Bryan watched with shock and a bit of pleasant surprise in his eyes. While it took a lot of time to set up, the power behind the skill did not disappoint.
After a few seconds,he snapped out of it and called out to Lucy. "Now!" he yelled and she quickly responded by placing her hands on the earth and around the area the coin landed, the earth rumbled and started moving like a wave before firmly enclosing the dragon in its embrace.
Lucy removed her hands and stood up while admiring her handiwork. The coin that had been reflecting light had its radiance covered.
'I guess its my turn.' Bryan cracked his neck and took a step forward. Then a thought occurred to him and he turned back and looked at Marcus and Matthew.
"Your attributes are wind and fire, right?" They exchanged looks and nodded and Bryan grinned as he had a wonderful idea.
"Marcus, I'm gonna need you to amplify my energy blast and control its direction the best you can. Matthew, can you ionize the particles and compress the surrounding gas and make the blast as tiny as possible?" While doing this would reduce the damage dealt, it was far more important to deal a blow to it.
'Plus, I still have Lucky Time.' In his current state, even a casual attack had a certain probability of doing something extraordinary.
"You really want us to try out a combination move without any practice?" Matthew raised his brow in mockery and Bryan nodded. Failure and success was a probability and right now, he wasn't scared of it.
"Don't worry. We can do it." he spoke with confidence and Matthew scowled and looked at Marcus. Bryan shifted his gaze to the latter and after a while, he nodded.
"Great." Bryan called for Carl and the latter stopped at his feet. Bryan quickly descended into a cross-legged position and felt out Carl with his mind. Little by little, the two of them entered a synchronized state.
Thump. Their hearts moved in sync with each other. The ether in Carl flowed into Bryan and very soon, the two of them achieved their ultimate state.
"Skill - Fire Breath." Bryan roused all the ether in his body, pouring it into a single ball of flames. Carl didn't slack off and a great amount flowed into the ball that Bryan had created, causing its size to triple.
Under normal circumstances, Bryan subconsciously reduced the power of the flames in order to retain a degree of control over it. Having your ultimate skill blow up in your face is worse than just embarrassment. It could mean death.
But with Matthew and Marcus, he could throw away all restrictions and go all out. Squeezing everything he had, he urged Carl to do the same.
From the spot where the dragon was buried, Lucy could feel faint thumps as the creature dug its way out. Frowning, she called out to Bryan, "Its about to break free."
"Marcus!" Marcus stepped forward and the wind answered his call as the enveloped the ball of flames. As if it had received a stimulant, the flame's intensity increased and Marcus almost lost control of the wind.
"Matthew." For the first time in a while, Marcus called out with a slight tremble in his voice. Matthew nodded and lightning flowed around his body before surging into the air and formed crisscross patterns.
'Here goes nothing.' He was a bit miffed he had to listen to another person's orders but under the current situation, that was the best possible move. And pride will not help him accomplish his goal.
After sensing everyone was in place, a grin made its way to Bryan's face and he opened his mouth and yelled, "NOW!" as he unleashed the power he had been condensing.
From red to pure white, the fire shrunk as the colour grew lighter under the efforts of Matthew and Marcus. As it came out from the end of the trail Matthew had created, it was barely an inch in width but the energy had reached a terrifying level. And just in time.
The mound where the dragon was suddenly exploded, sending fragments of earth and stone flying in all directions. Lucy raised her hand as she created an invisible barrier, stopping the shock wave.
BOOM! The dragon stepped forward and was greeted with a thin strand of fire rushing at him. From its size, it seemed weak but the dragon's beastly instincts cause it to open its mouth as a giant ball of blueish flames formed in its maw. Less than a second later, it fired its own fire breath and the two attacks collided in the air.
The results of the clash was determined in an instant. One was a rushed attack that did not have any real power behind it while the other was created by three geniuses working together.
The beam of flames pierced through the dragon's attack and its head with only a slight delay. Bryan watched as it drew a line through the sky before dissipating.
"Did we do it?" Charlotte muttered, unknowingly raising a flag and Bryan glared at her before cautiously looking at the dragon. Luckily, it seemed the light in the dragon's eyes showed no signs of strengthening as its gigantic body slowly fell to the ground.
The sound of the beast falling released the tension in their bodies and some of them even collapsed, sitting or lying on the floor in relief.
"i thought we were gonna die for a second." Charlotte said lying eagle spread on the floor. Kane, her tamed beast laid on her stomach and looked at her with eyes filled with pity. Reaching into its thin fur, it brought out a long piece of paper and a pen then furiously scribbled on it and stuck it on Charlotte's face.
"Here." Charlotte removed it and handed it over to Bryan. As he looked it over, he saw a full list with numbers written next to it. As an experienced individual, he quickly recognized it as a bill and nodded, "I'll transfer the money to you later."
"Oh no, that's Kane's price. Mine is yet to come." Charlotte said and Bryan's eye twitched for a moment as his head moved up and down in agreement.
"Fine, but you're forking over your share of the loot." Charlotte struggled with the decision before she nodded. It would save her the stress of processing the material herself.
"Attention all students. Due to certain issues, the test will be ending now. Catch you guys later!" a cheerful voice rang out from the sky and all the examinee found their vision darken as they vanished from their spots
