Chapter 25 - The Secret Chamber

Wraith Abode, Boss Room.

Ayaka took the severed limb as she looked at the book it held.

Five circles.

As she took off the limb, she walked towards the kid with golden hair. She also knew that this was the thing her master is looking for.

As she walked towards him, the kid pulled out three books from his inventory, and this kinds of books are the most expensive.

The first book has five moons on it's cover. This means that the skill book is of the dark side, and uses dark energy.

Thw next one has five diamonds in it. The four symbols signify four things: Diamond for Attack Classes, Heart for Support Classes, Clover for Defense Classes and Spade for Magic Classes.

And for the last one, the very thing that made Magic Night famous in the past life.

If Zypher is here, he would've killed them all just to obtain this item. This is because this item is a legendary item that almost breaks the game.

Now, some of you may ask, why is loot-stealing bad, but killing for item is good. Well, Player Killing is also a part of the game, which means it is not bad to PK, but the items they will get are only "processed" items.

There are two kinds of items in every game, the "raw" material, and the "processed" material.

The raw materials are always the ones from the dungeons, and/or items that the owners use for their own growth. In short, they are resources.

Stones, woods, and others that is used specifically in "creating" or "building". The finders, or the ones who got the items has sole possession of the said item.

The processed items are the swords, armors or skill scrolls created by the player.

But, there is a certain drop that makes people crazy for player killing: Spell Scrolls.

This means that whatever spell they had, which is created by their own hands, may fall to the enemy's hands. Although the spell won't be lost, another person knowing your spell is like being naked in the battlefield.

Or, being hit by the friend you entrusted your life with.

Either way, it leaves a bad taste on the mouth that's why guilds always chases down PKers for this very reason.

And, killing PKers also drops their "raw" materials. Which means high risks, high rewards.

And, items, as they pass the epic threshold, become "processed" items.

Even if it is an alchemy fruit to be used for production, they can drop once a person die.

That is also why PK is not good in early stages, as the drops are not worth, and are just meager for the kind of effort they pour into it.

And this third book, is a legendary item.

The item's name is Skill Grimoire, and this grimoire is of the Attack Class.

The use of a Skill Grimoire is simple: merge skill books to create a unique, epic or legendary class that encompasses those skill trees that it was fed with.

The Spellblade in the past timeline is also a product of this grimoire, and it was broken for some reason as the skill tree emcompasses too many skills, and passives.

And now, Ayaka and her master is forging a class that is at least epic.

The first skill book, with the five moons, is the Hell Knight, a class that deals with dark magic and kill count to raise it's attack and speed. It's cons are paper-thin defense and weakness to holy magic.

The next one, with the five diamonds is of the Dark Paladin, a paladin who uses darkness to boost defense and heal itself to get into longer fights. It's weakness is speed and too straightforward kind of skills.

The last one, with the five circles, is the Berserker Class. High attack, high defense, and also, the skill "Berserk" that raises its stats.

The Skill Grimoire only needs three skill books to create one class, and so, in they go and the grimoire's pages started to flip.

Like an encyclopedia, it's thickness is incomparable, and the pages are too thin that it may rip any moment, but the flipping of pages stopped it from.

As the grimoire reached the center pages, a page was suddenly torn from it, and a class was written on it, and it's rarity.

[Knight of Death] - Legendary

The kid smiled as soon as he saw it, but then, a knight suddenly appeared beside Ayaka.

"Sir, it seems like the portal has been used."

The joy on his face changed to wrath as soon as he heard this.

Dark Alley, Wraith's Abode.

A potion poured down to his mouth. The green liquid is smooth, and the effects were seen immediately.

His arm grew back in a few seconds, and he smiled.

Looks like he won the gamble: a skillbook for his life. Although this was a loss for many, but information is what he needed.

That skillbook is of the Berserker class, which means that the user of the class has access to berserk skills, but there will be a time limit, and so, knowing this can change all the future ahead of him.

It was like a trojan horse, a skill book that gives away how he will deal with them in the future. With that, he smiled confidently and walked inside the alley a little more.

This alley was discovered by the Magic Night guild in his past life, and the rewards were not publicized. It was just reported, and even became an issue, but the Baltinoir family just paid others to deal with it.

But now, he is the one who discovered it.

What lies ahead is not what he knows, but what he can do now is forge the path ahead.

As he walked forward, a sense of chaos was building in the room ahead. It is like one moment, a strong dread will come, but the next moment is a soothing comfort. This made him feel excitement as he knows that whatever it is, it can change the game he knows.

As he walked on, he arrived in a clearing that is like a colosseum.

Pillars stood in a circular pattern, and in the middle were two altars that has their backs together.

Chains are wrapped in some pillars, and there are talismans on it, making it look like people are not welcome inside.

As soon as he saw this, was surprised by the intricateness of the patterns. There are runes on the floor, and inscriptions in every pillar, and the pillars are arranged in a position like it was used as formation flags.

As he walked around it once, he realized that every talisman are also not in random, but the intricacies are too good that it left him in awe.

"Funny how people see beauty in a killing formation."

Zypher jumped and looked around as he heard this.

'Did they follow me?'

This was the first thing that came into his mind as he said this. He spun his head around, and looked around, but was unable to see someone.

"In here." The sound said, and as soon as Zypher turned around, he saw an old man standing inside the circle.

Pulling the broken chakram from his inventory, he jumped back, but as soon as he did that, a spear landed where he came from.

"You're welcome." The voice said. After that, a man appeared from behind a pillar that was not there earlier.

"Who dares to set the demon free?" Another voice said as three more figured appeared. This time, with the illumination of the altar, Zypher saw all of their faces.

And what shocked him the most, was that the four guardians are familiar to him.

"Edit."

As soon as he said it, he heard a gasp inside his head.

"What is happening here?"

Zypher was a bit more confused, but what he is seeing now is a surprise for him.

Yes, the four guardians are the four parts of the system.

Edit, Upgrade, Admin and Goggles.

But, they do not know him, and it looks like they are the guardians of this place.

"Sorry, brothers and sisters, I was just looking at the things here and have no plans to-"

"You can speak our language?"

The five said in unison.

"Uhmm, yes?"

As soon as he said that, the four stood before him and the "Edit" guardian wrapped her arms aroudn his neck.

"Oh my God, Upgrade! I have a new brother!"

'What? Edit, are you there?'

But then, a knife was aimed at his neck.

This was the second time it happened, and Zypher was a bit annoyed.

"But why are you trying to free the demon?" The other Edit said as she grinned with menace.

"I said, I'm not trying to."

"Many people came here and said the same things, how can you prove that you are--"

"Here."

A little later, the face of the five, including the demon turned into horror, awe, and a bit of respect to him.

What he pulled out was not an item, but a dodecahedron gem with magic circles spinning around it.

"We greet the Ruler!" The four guardians, including the ones aiming her knife to him earlier knelt down and was surprised.

"I am not a ruler." He said as he stowed away the codex.

"So, what's happening in here?"

He said as he brushed his neck and saw that there are no blood in it. He sighed in relief after.

"This is the Deviant that was sealed by the First Ruler. He said that a person may extract one thing from the core, and use the Deviant's energy to do so."

"But he also said they must pass a tes-"

"Shut up, you demon. He has the codex!" Goggles interrupted the Deviant as she glared at him.

"A test? Fine, let me take it." Zypher said as he stretched his arm.

"But Sir--"

"Guess he did not say that you can exempt anyone, right?"

"That's true-"

"So I have to take the test."

"Sir--"

"Or are you trying to disrespect me, the one holding the codex."

"That's not what--"

"So we go ahead with the test." Zypher said as he finished stretching his body.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I SAW GOGGLES BE INTERRUPTE--"

"Yeah, laugh now, because I will use you later."

With that, the laughter stopped, and an awkward silence permeated the air.

"So, what is the test?" Zypher asked as he grinned.

"You already passed." The deviant said in defeat.

"What? It's that easy?"

"I guess? The test is about dominating the deviant anyway so that they will give their energy for you to use."
