Chapter 29 - Breakthrough III

An insanely oppressive aura burst from my body. My muscles tensed as Predator's Grace took over. My senses sharpened—I could hear heartbeats all around me.

The beast moved slowly, but something was off.

Its speed… it kept changing. Adapting at a terrifying pace.

Why was I even shocked?

I literally got my Gagarion cells from it. I shrugged my shoulders.

"What is that?"

I narrowed my gaze.

Scales?

No—I shook my head.

That wasn't skin.

Those were bones.

It had to be an effect of the blade.

"Show me your limit," I said, stretching my hand forward.

Space cracked—just for a moment—then it vanished.

Boom!

Our fists collided. The force sent tremors through the earth, tearing up the ground beneath us.

In seconds, we'd exchanged over a hundred punches.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Bones snapped with every blow.

I couldn't tell whose.

And I didn't care.

Phantom Pact.

Voom!

A shadow took my place, throwing me back from the wild beast. It attacked—fists, feet, fury. Brutal, primal, relentless.

As the battle grew, more bones slowly covered its being. Its aura swelled.

But something about the shadow's presence pulled my gaze towards them.

I studied them both for a while.

Something about the shadow felt… familiar.

A sword.

It held the sword—poised, waiting to draw.

The Gagarion reacted fast. It threw a punch… then suddenly stopped.

It hesitated.

It pulled back.

Strange.

It looked… scared.

Gagarions don't get scared.

Then I smiled.

"Boa!! You're scared."

The moment the words left my lips, the Gagarion turned to flee.

Like a comet, my shadow clone vanished—blade flashing.

Boa raised an arm in a desperate block.

Shhhhk!

The sword sliced through it like butter, shaving a layer from his neck.

Then the shadow disappeared.

"You've served your purpose." I muttered.

I moved in—silent, unnoticed.

I picked up its rusted axe, then appeared above it—my foot slamming down on its head.

It reached up with its remaining hand, but I was already ahead—wrapping it in webs.

With barely any effort, I took its head clean off.

"For a rusted blade, you're quite sharp," I said, glancing at the axe before tossing it aside.

The beheaded corpse thrashed like it still lived—fists and legs pounding. The ground cracked under it.

Then, suddenly, it stopped.

It turned to dust.

The particles floated toward me, slowly assimilating into my body.

This isn't enough.

I'm lacking.

I squeezed my fist.

*"Congratulations, Master, on your breakthrough,"* Inerous's voice echoed in my mind.

Then slowly, I awoke.

To my surprise, Father was standing at the door.

"Congratulations, son," he said, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Thank you, Father," I bowed my head.

What?! My luck… it decreased?

I was flabbergasted by what I was seeing.

What does this mean?

I was lost in thought.

"Dax, what's wrong?" Omin asked.

"Nothing, Father. I just need to stabilize my realm."

"There are eyes beyond our plane now. Even the stars twitch." Omin said then he waved a hand as he retreated into his office.

In a flash, I was back in my own thoughts.

My stats had progressed as expected. But two variables clouded my mind the Amantium body and my negative luck.

I came to understand the Amantium body during the battle with the Gagarion and Boa.

The Amantium is literally the ultimate version of the Gagarion.

But something's off…

There's no record of an Amantium in my world—not even in the Gagarion archives.

Naturally, the Gagarion were poison to our cosmos. Powerful roaches.

If the Amantium had truly existed… the universe would have been covered in blood by now.

Slowly, the image of a bleeding star appeared in my mind.

A chill went down my spine.

Then my gaze traveled to my Origin point.

"…My reserves have increased. Wonderful."
