Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Acting Righteously

After scaring away the three people, Zhou Dong asked, "Wow! When did you learn to read faces and catch ghosts?"

Naturally, Wu Xiaoyu couldn't tell them about the Jade Token, so he stammered, "I can't catch any ghosts! I was just scaring them away!"

At this time, the sun was setting in the west, it was already dusk. After giving some advice to his sister, Wu Xiaoyu took Zhou Dong and Mao Shanxin to eat.

Zhou Dong had skipped evening classes; naturally, he couldn't eat at any of the restaurants under his family's business. The three found a small tavern by the roadside, ordered some dishes, got a box of liquor, and started boasting and chatting.

After a few rounds of drinks and dishes, Zhou Dong was quite drunk and insisted on taking Wu Xiaoyu to see his dad to discuss cooperation.

But who knows if that's going to happen? The idea of farming is just Wu Xiaoyu's plan, even if he wanted to cling to Zhou Dong's dad, how would he do it?

Wu Xiaoyu and Mao Shanxin had no choice but to take him out for a walk to sober up. The night had already fallen, the streets were still bustling with cars, a prosperous scene.

It's said that Anping Village belonged to such a wealthy county, even if not rich, it shouldn't be as poor as it is now.

The blame lies in Daxin Village being surrounded by mountains, with inconvenient transportation, no one comes to invest or set up factories. The villagers rarely go out, have little experience, and lack the courage to make a desperate attempt. They are afraid of losing everything, so they survive on small farming or migrant work.

Things like pig or chicken raising were considered by the villagers, but no one dared to do it on a large scale. If Zhang Dadan really set up a pig farm, he would be the first in the village.

While the three were strolling, they arrived at the moat. There were many people strolling or fishing by the river. They helped Zhou Dong sit on a cool chair under the tree.

The cool breeze was blowing, and after walking quite a bit, Zhou Dong was somewhat sober, and asked, "Why did we come here?"

Mao Shanxin said, "Didn't you insist on seeing me? What is it? Go ahead!"

Zhou Dong remembered his outburst just now, and hearing this guy taking advantage of him verbally, he gave him a punch, cursing, "You son of a gun! You used to be such an honest kid, how did you become like this?"

"Wasn't it all your teaching?" Wu Xiaoyu laughed.

While laughing and joking, they heard some quarrels not far away, "Get lost! Don't touch me!"

"What's going on?" Wu Xiaoyu got up to look, but Mao Shanxin pulled him back, "It's probably some local hoodlums harassing a girl, there are police patrolling around here, they'll be here soon!"

Hearing what he said, Wu Xiaoyu paid no more attention and continued to talk about his experiences working in the South these past two years.

"During your time in Wan City, did you have any special experiences? Share with us?" Zhou Dong asked impishly.

Wu Xiaoyu didn't consider himself very upright, but he was cautious about diseases, so he always kept himself clean and hadn't been to those places, naturally having nothing to say.

But the two wouldn't believe him, forcing him to talk. At this moment, the quarrel noises still hadn't stopped, indicating the police hadn't arrived yet. Wu Xiaoyu changed the topic, "Let's go and have a look! What if something really happens?"

Seeing he had already walked over, the other two hurried a few steps to catch up. After getting closer, Zhou Dong suddenly exclaimed, "Holy shit! Ma Xiaomin!"

Wu Xiaoyu looked closely and saw it was the same girl who had spoken ill of his sister earlier, and the Black Qi on her shoulder was getting thicker.

Zhou Dong, a bit embarrassed, said, "Xiaoyu, Ma Xiaomin's family has ties with mine, I can't ignore this!"

"Am I such a petty guy?" Wu Xiaoyu said, moving through the crowd with Zhou Dong.

Zhou Dong shouted, "Stop!"

The four or five small hoodlums turned in surprise, seeing three drunk young lads, and laughed, "Where did these idiots come from? Trying to be heroes?"

Another hoodlum pointed to Ma Xiaomin in his arms and laughed, "Look here, it's not me bullying her! She's clinging to me!"

Zhou Dong then noticed Ma Xiaomin hugging a guy with yellow hair, licking his face continuously, and immediately grabbed a girl nearby to question, "Wu Fang, what's going on with her?"

Wu Fang, seeing Zhou Dong, started crying, "We don't know what happened to Ma Xiaomin either!"

Another girl, also anxious, said, "She must've been drugged by these punks, Zhou Dong, you must save her!"

Drugged? Clearly possessed by a ghost! Wu Xiaoyu could see Ma Xiaomin was controlled by the ghost attached to him, deliberately embarrassing her.

They quickly moved to pull Ma Xiaomin away, but before they could get close, the hoodlums stopped them, "What're you doing? Can't you see my sister-in-law with my buddy here? Get lost!"

Zhou Dong didn't say a word, punching the guy. Seeing this, the hoodlums started fighting too. Wu Xiaoyu, fearing he would seriously hurt them, held back a bit before joining in.

The hoodlums were knocked down instantly. The yellow-haired guy held by Ma Xiaomin, trembling, said, "She's the one clinging to me, it's not my fault!"

Although Wu Xiaoyu could see Ma Xiaomin was possessed, he was just learning, and hadn't mastered capturing ghosts or drawing talismans. So he helped Zhou Dong pull Ma Xiaomin away.

To his surprise, as soon as he touched Ma Xiaomin, the Black Qi on her shoulder started to dissipate. Ma Xiaomin turned to look at Wu Xiaoyu, calling out charmingly, "Husband..."

What the hell? Lady, did you get the wrong script?

Wu Xiaoyu's family were butchers for generations, his killing aura extraordinary. Ma Xiaomin let out a fierce scream, then fainted.

Zhou Dong pinned the yellow-haired guy to the ground, asking, "What did you drug her with? Bring out the antidote!"

The yellow-haired guy was about to cry, "I didn't drug her! She pounced on me saying 'husband', it's not my fault!"

Just then, police sirens wailed, and within moments, several officers ran over, yelling, "What's going on here?"

Zhou Dong quickly stood up, explaining, "They were bullying my classmate, I stepped in to help..."

Before he finished, more officers arrived, restraining them along with the hoodlums. After questioning the onlookers, the police understood the situation.

"Next time you encounter this, call the police first, got it? Now, come with me to the station for a statement..." As the officer was speaking, another came over and whispered a few words, sending him to Ma Xiaomin.

By this time, Ma Xiaomin woke up, looking confused at the many officers, "What's happening?"
