Chapter 3 - 3) missing page.

[ Olivia POV ]

Everything went to hell about a month ago.

They said a new virus was spreading rapidly among the people. Said it made people aggressive …like animals that contracted rabies.

After sometime when thing got too out of control, the military had to step in. governments started building quarantine zones, to so called "help" the infected people.

That went sideways fast…i was at the last quarantine zone. Though only for a couple of days, i saw how bad the people were being treated. Food was the main issue, the people who were supposed to hand it out held the majority for their own.

That's when I met a group of people who were planning to leave this ticking time bomb of a camp. They were the ones who told me about the survivors tower. But before we could escape the bomb went off…the infected somehow got in.

Panic had set in and everyone went haywire.

I grabbed my children and started running towards the way we planned to escape from. The rest of the group did so too, Atleast those that didn't get caught by the newly infected.

The guards who were stationed outside started shooting at everyone, infected or not I don't think they cared.

At the end only a handful of us got out.

After all that, they kicked us out of the group…me and The children. They made excuses saying it would be too dangerous for them to have children in their group.

Bunch of cowards!.

Who knows what they'd do to us if I didn't leave. Probably use us as bait to escape a horde.

So i left with the kids.

That's when i got here…being chased by a viral, a man falling out if the sky just to save us.

Alexander summerbell, the man that fell.

Though he liked it more for people to call him alex for short.

...

It was long a day for us but it didn't end there. Night came…it seemed alex was a scientist of sorts. He knew a lot about the infected…which was strange as he didn't even know the name of the city he was in.

Maybe he also injured his head from the fall. When he gets back, i'll have to check for any head injuries.

Each time he spoke about the infected only made me more concerned. They were evolving…the zombies as he calls them were evolving.

I hadn't heard anything about that…not from the guards or from survivors. They usually only talked about the infected runners that are eating people.

"Mommy food"

I was pulled out of my thoughts by my daughter.

"Food" Jessie's cute little baby face was all scrunched up.

"Alright, i'll go make us something to eat" i said kissing her forehead. Going to the kitchen i looked at the clock hanging on the wall. Only 15 minutes were left before we have to leave without alex.

*footsteps upstairs*

"Hey Olivia…i'm back." alex voice came from the other side of the door that connected the two floors. His voice sounded strange…not like his usual self.

Before I opened the door i saw blood leaking out from under the door.

I stopped frozen in my tracks.

"Alex…did you get bitten?" I asked cautiously.

My heart was pounding in chest. Even though i only knew him for a day, I didn't want to lose him.

He was our only hope of getting to the tower safely. I already know my limits…i am weak. I needed all the help I could get to survive with my children in this hell hole of a city.

"…"

no sound came for a moment. My anxiety only grew with each passing second.

"No…" his voice came again.

A sigh escaped my mouth. I didn't even realize that i was holding my breath. He wasn't bitten…which means he's injured!

I quickly tried turning the doorknob to open the door but it wouldn't even budge.

"Alex are you injured?! Fuck you're bleeding! This damn door won't open!" I started panicking again.

"Don't worry…I'm not injured, it's not my…blood" his voice barely above a whisper.

"I found some food and a couple of UV lights at the store…I don't want the kids to see me like this, so i'll be going to another house to wash the blood away…i'll be back in a couple of hours."

The door finally opened but i was only met with an empty room. Looking down I spotted a duffel bag and bloodied footprints that were leading to an opened window.

"Alex..?!" I tried calling out for him but no one answered.

Grabbing the bag he left behind, I headed back down stairs. Not forgetting to lock the door behind me.

A couple Hours have passed, it was already mid-day yet alex still hasn't returned. I was really starting to think that he lied to me about not being bitten.

"Fuck! What do i do now…" looking at the two children playing under the tub. Images of them getting torn apart by zombies flooded my mind.

Tears started rolling down my cheeks just thinking about it.

"Come on get yourself together…there's still a chance."

Looking on the duffel bag on the counter top. We had food and the UV light that alex left with us.

"I don't know if these stupid lights even work! Why didn't i try to convince him to go towards the tower…"

"Why so sad all of a sudden?" A voice came from behind me. I jumped out of the chair from fright and quickly turned around.

Seeing Alex just standing awkwardly by the stairs. Another big duffel bag in his hand.

"Alex?!" The children screamed in excitement before running up to him. He got on his knees to welcome them in his embrace.

"Hey!, missed me?"

"(2*) yes!"

"Here I brought you guys some snacks" he said handing them some bags of chips. They ran off happily to their bed under the bathtub.

Alex placed his duffel bag on the counter top pulling a black bag out of it.

"Here, i got you something too." He said handing me a new pair of fresh clothes. But I didn't care about that right now.

"Where were you?!" I asked, my voice sharper than I intended.

"I needed… to get some fresh air" he said taking a seat next to me. His voice was soft and marred with sadness.

Something happened to him...I can see it in his eyes. They seem dimmer now...

"Don't do that again…please." My head fell on his shoulder. Tears streaming down my cheeks.

[ Alex POV ]

It surprised me when she suddenly got close to me, Placing her head on my shoulder. It's seems that she's grown dependent on me.

Tears? She was crying.

I slowly lifted my arms and pulled her into an embrace. No, she hasn't grown dependent on me.

She's doing this for her children.

"There's no need to cry, we'll be fine from here on out." I said hugging her tightly while looking out the window at the burning City.

In a world full of monsters… somehow, I became the worst of them all.

AUTHOR NOTE:

Don't know about this chapter, i have been really busy so i could not write (sometimes i was just lazy).

But damn...after 4 months i expect some good fanfics on this app. But all i see is trash sadly, none get me excited to read. Its like they all just copy and paste the same Story.

I don't see any monster fanfics...which is sad.

Meh not my problem i got so many books and a lot of chapters in them that i write for myself xD. (I'll only update this book from now on.)
