Chapter 14 - Time to leave them all behind.

Author Notes 1

Well well well, look at the bastard author who comes back after a month.

Hehe, sorry guys, I was enjoying my other hobbies, gaming, mostly.

I'm an achievement hunter in games, so that's why I was absent. Of course, other things too.

Anyways, this is my favorite chapter so far.

In the Author Notes 2, we have some things to talk about.

Enjoy the chapter.

-------------------------

-Samuel POV-

I stretched out in the chair, finally, class break.

My training days were fruitful, peeeeerfect control over my abilities...but those days I was training the second power system of this world.

Senjutsu.

Of course, I will take my sweet time with Touki too.

I will milk whatever this universe has to offer.

So imma dominate the discount Nen too, of course. Haha, a lot of other series have the "discount Nen." I like to call it that way.

I'm keep getting broken even on my own, hehe. Undisputed Top 1 of DxD. Top 1% in the multiverse.

'Can't be touched, can't be stopped, can't be moved, can't be rocked, can't be shook~' I sing in my mind.

Maybe later I will sing "Sympathy" for myself, the fan favorite opening of DxD. Mine is "Gekijouron." from season 3. The only one I don't like is "Switch." Season 4 of the anime was nasty, art style change, basically.

Funny thing season 3 was the worst, TNK motherfuckers said "lets make a fanfic in the last chapters" lmaooo. Ishibumi was angry at that shit.

No wonder the change of studio in season 4, that was fucking low.

Good enough Yasaka saved the entire season 4 for the fandom. As expected of the world babe of DxD. The gooner bait was too strong.

Well enough about this.

We are entering the whole Holy Sword Project arc! I need to see how Kiba achieves his Balance Breaker by bugging the system.

To do the same later, of course.

I don't really need him, but I will watch it regardless. I would be a fool if I didn't take the opportunity. Watch and replicate...but better.

Only imagining what Annihilation Maker can do being pulled out of the system and "bugged"... and if I can become a god to break things even more.

Uff.

God is gone. So the developer can't patch things anymore. Let's abuse the game mechanics, HAHA. Take advantage of bugs!

Speaking of the devil. Here comes the protagonist of this arc.

"Lancaster-san, good work." Kiba comes to my seat and nods.

"Yeah, school is boring me to death." We are second years already, can't quit at this point because it would really be a waste. So I will finish.

Damn you, Japanese education system. You are my strongest and toughest enemy. Can I change enemies? Where is the Khaos Brigade when I need them? Tch.

"Nice work in the Rating Game. I saw you fight well the other day." I say to him. He got better too, faster, less flashy, and no unnecessary movements. And the more important thing: creativity using his Sacred Gear.

No wonder he is at the gates of achieving Balance Breaker. The emotional trigger of this arc will do it.

"Thanks, we worked hard." Kiba says.

Indeed they did. Sirzechs and them pulled off a miracle.

"A part of me wanted to see a Balance Breaker in the fight, but meh, guess it's not time for you guys." He and Issei still have issues to resolve to achieve that.

"Sacred Gears are complicated." The blonde sighs.

"Indeed." True.

"So you have a Sacred Gear too?" he asks me. I can see genuine curiosity on his face.

I will.

"Who knows~"

"Well, I expected as much." Kiba says with a smile.

Haha, sorry man, my secrets are only mine.

"Imma strut, talk to you later." I stand up from my seat.

You have a spar with Xenovia later on. Work hard. Probably you will win, but if the holy sword blinds you with rage...worst case, the spar will end in a tie.

Haha, if Irina is the tomboy of the series, Xenovia is the e-girl. Change my mind.

Anyways, my Kokabiel gank is getting closer.

I just need to be patient.

-------------------------

-Third Person Pov-

Two days passed.

Plot is going as expected.

Kiba going rogue. The Church sending two exorcists...

Kiba, Issei, Koneko, Saji, Xenovia, and Irina. All players were in place, discussing the next move. Plotting.

In the end, Xenovia and Irina left. Only the devils remained.

After Kiba told them his tragic origin story, worthy of a decent protagonist.

They were all in.

"We can't beat Kokabiel, he is a Cadre. If those two are right and he is around Kuoh... what will we do?" Saji said. Even if he agreed to help his fellow devils, he had his doubts.

Everyone got quiet after that.

"I can boost everyone and we can work out something..." Issei said, a bit unsure.

Not being a complete idiot anymore, Issei understood the magnitude of the enemy.

"Indeed...Kokabiel can kill us easily." Kiba stated.

Issei clenched his fists after that.

"Freed Sellzen is more than doable, even if he's using an Excalibur." Kiba continued.

And it's true. Kiba beat him easily in the last encounter. Shame he escaped regardless.

"I think we can do it if the four of us plus Xenovia and Irina are there." Issei concluded.

"Won't be enough." Koneko stated.

They became silent, weighing the options.

Good thing they were aware now of the power levels of the world thanks to the brutal training they went through. That's one thing they learned.

"We can ask someone else for help..." Kiba said, unsure.

The three of them looked at him, curious.

"Who?" Issei asked.

"...Lancaster." Kiba said slowly, knowing what reaction he would get.

"HIM!? x2" Both pawns said at the same time.

"He is the only ultimate-class I can think of and can help us. We need to have a reasonable and realistic plan if we want to have a chance." Kiba said eloquently.

"B-but he is really that strong? Are you sure it's not a fluke?" Issei couldn't believe in the guy that easily.

"He is." To the surprise of everyone, Saji said that.

"Saji..." Issei muttered.

"Kiba-senpai, how will we convince him to help us? Is it possible?" Koneko asked him.

"I will talk to him right now. I know his house direction. I will tell the truth and hope for the best." Kiba said with closed eyes and a smile.

They thought everything was a gamble at this point.

Who ensures that the plan will work? That Lancaster will help? That he can defeat Kokabiel? Let's not forget the possible variables that could happen.

If only they knew...

"Great. Let's go to his house and convince him. I don't mind begging to that bastard. He can refuse us if we beg together." Issei said unusually sure for some reason.

Everyone looked a bit surprised at him.

"I think it's better if I go alone. I talk to Lancaster in class, he will be more receptive to me." Kiba appreciated the sentiment, but...

"Not a chance. We are going. We will help you, remember?" Issei's protagonist aura shone with this line.

Kiba widened his eyes and then relaxed his face with a smile.

"Okay."

"Let's go to his house," Issei said.

.

..

...

"Kiba... is it here?" Issei asked.

"Yes." the blonde responded.

"It looks so... normal." Saji said, looking around the house.

"Right? I was expecting something more flashy from that bas—URFH!" Issei was cut off by Koneko's elbow to his ribs.

"Issei-senpai, we are here to ask for his help." Koneko said in his monotone tone.

"R-right. Okay, let me ring the door." With that, he rang the bell.

After a couple of seconds, the door was opened by a young looking man with long and light brown hair.

Samuel Lancaster.

"Y-yo Lancaster, can we talk abo—" But Issei was cut off by the door closing in his face.

Again.

"BASTARD! I mean, please open up, Lancaster, it's important!" Issei said.

-------------------------

-Samuel Pov-

Unexpected.

That's the word I will use for this... whatever they are here, I have a vague idea of what it could be.

I sit comfy in my individual couch, looking at the four in front of me taking the big couch.

"Well, do tell why are you all here?" I address them.

Issei and Saji were putting their eyes around the house while sitting, trying to see if there is something more? Sorry, it's just a normal house... right now.

"Right! Lancaster, help us to defeat Kokabiel." Issei goes straight to the point without explaining anything.

The corners of my mouth slowly formed a Cheshire smile. But I quickly wiped off the smile.

"I think you need to explain more this one." I said.

"I will do it." Kiba said.

.

..

...

"I see. I get it now." I hear his explanation, his past, and the plan.

Just like the plot, but with some changes. Good...good, I can work well with the current cards.

Now I have the perfect excuse to crash the party and end Kokabiel for good, heh.

The first feat.

"Quite bold to do it behind the backs of your masters." I said lightly with a smile.

The four looked a bit ashamed.

"So you will help us?" Issei is the first to ask, changing the topic. This guy is about to get spanked haha.

"I will fight Kokabiel, don't worry. You guys convinced me." I said.

Keyword: fight. If I said KILL, they probably would give me some crap about why killing is bad and blablabla. I don't think they will, because they kill stray devils and let's not forget the Raynare gang. I doubt they are that hypocritical.

Killing evil people is never wrong.

"Really!? x2" Issei and Saji exclaimed.

"Indeed... let's say I'm not fond of evil, so that's why I will help you guys." I said.

"Lancaster, I knew you were a good guy!" Issei said.

Well... I will tell I'm "neutral good" but let people think that.

"Wait, Lancaster, are you sure?" Kiba asked, concerned.

"Very." I responded without missing a beat.

"Again, are you sure? Kokabiel is a Cadre who survived the Great War, ultimate class, full of experience. What if you get seriously injured or die? What if you lose?" Kiba was trying to be the voice of reason. He did his homework, I can tell... I appreciate the sentiment, dude.

Everyone was silent, realizing the possible consequences.

I look at them in their eyes, leaning from my seat. I let my magical aura release, but not to overwhelm them, just to make the statement that Kokabiel has zero chances. Him or anyone else.

"Nah, I'd win."

Not gonna lie, I feel how I get a dopamine shot in my brain after this aura farmer moment.

After looking at their wide eyes, I call back my magic "release."

"Thanks for the sentiment, guys, but don't worry." I said, taking them out of the loop.

"...Right." Kiba said more quietly.

"Tomorrow after school, right guys?" I said.

"Yes."

"I will not go with you. I will be watching around the city. If I feel Kokabiel's presence, don't worry, if he is around i will feel it and go there to fight him. I promise." Of course, I will only interfere at the perfect moment, after Kiba achieves his Balance Breaker, duh.

Besides, if Kokabiel can really feel my true power from a close distance, there's a chance he can run away. That's why a gank is better.

"But—" I cut off Issei.

"Enough. Tomorrow we will see each other and that's it. We finish the matter. Now I'll walk you to the door." I don't give a chance to nonsense.

After they crossed the door.

"Good luck, guys, and remember...you are doing the right thing. Doesn't matter what your masters opinion is. See you tomorrow." I close the door in Issei's face again.

Huh.

Tomorrow is the big day. My debut in the supernatural world. I will go big. Some people will start to know about me. Azazel, for example.

Tomorrow the world will see the most powerful Lancaster that will ever live.

I go to sit again on my couch, practicing my Senjutsu.

Time to wait.

-------------------------

-Samuel POV-

I was sitting on my roof... in a plastic white chair.

Using my full high senses. Magic is a wonderful thing.

From here I have a perfect view of the fight that will happen.

I see how Sona and her peerage put up the magic barrier or was it a magic bound field? Huh. They are weaker than Rias and her peerage, as expected.

Kokabiel was sitting in his throne high in the air. My eyes focused on him. Funny thing i could snipe him from here, but nah. I need to do some damage control after all.

It's game over for him. He can't escape me.

As I watch the Cerberus fight, I can't help but think of my time since I came to this world.

It's been quite a while since I was living alone...powerless.

I remember those days...working and coming back to an empty home. Slowly killing me.

One Sunday I went to take a nap and...here we are.

Maybe I died in my sleep for some reason...maybe this is a dream...if that's the case, I don't want to ever wake up.

Maybe it's because of the countless times I filled out some shady CYOA on the internet and this is the result.

Or maybe divine intervention?

No.

As I think, the group easily dealt with the multiple Cerberus. Kiba going to confront Valper and his past.

Paying close attention to his behavior, the mana in his surroundings...and how he's breaking or bugging the intended system.

Powerful desires, dreams, hope, will, constant use and understanding of your Sacred Gear can allow a Balance Breaker.

A bit similar to a Reality Marble, but way less complicated.

One thing people don't normally use in those cases is...obsession.

It can be a dangerous double-edged sword if you don't know how to use it correctly.

I can't help but smile as Kiba's dead friends encourage him to keep going and give him strength to live on.

One thing I know for real is that my prayers remain unanswered and that's fine. I don't need them anymore. Even when I needed them the most, I would turn out to be the wrong answer for myself.

For some time I prayed to God for a change. But I realized that was not the answer that was going to set me free.

In the end, I was left with the harsh acceptance.

I watch how Kokabiel kills Valper, doing part my job. The time is about to come.

Hitting rock bottom, living a life that was not worth living. Even if my prayer was unanswered...I found hope.

Hope to keep going like my father said.

In my darkest moment, I didn't twist myself and become evil like many villains in this world.

It's a famous rumor...an open secret that Kokabiel fell from Heaven because he loved a woman, and he lost her.

Twisting himself, and he became what he is today. A bloodthirsty warmonger. Makes me remember a bit of the old Kratos.

Loki is the same, the black sheep of his pantheon. Nobody likes him because of how he is, and of course, he wants to destroy everything.

Rizevim the same, evil and nihilistic bastard, doesn't care about anyone or anything, the worst scum, not a single good trait in him.

Indra is throwing the biggest tantrum in history at Shiva, doesn't care how many are burned in his crusade.

Hades is similar to Loki, black sheep of his pantheon, ruling Hell. Even if he has subordinates, he's still lonely. Not a single lover in his life because he is a skeleton, and of course doesn't have the most important part down there.

He is not married to anyone in the DxD world and never was. No Persephone, no one.

And the Khaos Brigade list keeps going with similar examples.

In their lowest, they adopted evil.

The inferior mindset.

If you are evil, you have the inferior mindset. Period.

I had a similar situation to them, but in my lowest, I chose the good, the light, the hope, not the path of evil, destruction, and despair of others.

One thing I must give to Hades, he is right in only one thing:

Sacred Gears were a mistake.

God made a mistake with them. You can't create a weapon, give it to humanity, and hope it will work out for the better.

Of course, other factions decided to take their slice of the cake, devils going as far as to make the peerage devil system to enslave humans with Sacred Gears.

And then you have retards like Cao Cao using the Longinus to kill innocents...*sigh*

It was a mistake...but I will fix it for you, God.

I'm glad at that time I developed a better relationship with myself and God.

And when things were bright enough, the fated day came and I became Samuel Lancaster in this world.

I was once again a boy in the same situation.

Very similar features, same situation. Same name.

Both religious, both baptism, communion, and confirmation.

Both alone in the world.

The old Samuel Lancaster prayed to God too, only to get his prayer unanswered, for obvious reasons.

There are too many "coincidences."

That's one of the reasons I know almost for sure God was not the one who had something to do with my reason for being here.

He is dead.

And in my original universe, even if he is alive...

God doesn't take the problems away from you.

No matter how much you pray.

He will make you stronger to confront them.

That's the other reason why I don't think it was him.

But...I must apologize for something.

My faith ends here.

I'm trying to become a god here. Sooner or later it will happen. One way or another.

I will bet everything on myself. Even if I end up dead.

One god does not pray to another.

You can respect him, pay homage to his memory...but never pray to him.

Sorry, God. And thanks for everything. You made me a better and stronger person. Time to keep going.

I know im not entirely good. I'm not the type who goes around the world saving others. I'm not hero material.

But i know i can be the best at punishing evil.

I will make the world a better place. Punishing evil in its every form.

It's time to leave them all behind.

"GOD DIED IN THE GREAT WAR!" Kokabiel shouts, and that's my cue.

Goodbye, Yahweh. I will never forget you.

With that, I teleport to the battlefield in front of everyone, ready to punish evil.

Author notes 2

-Yeah yeah, cliffhanger. Sorry about that, but the next chapter will be fire... literally.

As you can see, like I said in the first chapter, it's a fast paced fic. I'm skipping the parts everyone knows about (the anime/light novel) and putting the new situations/interactions.

So you will not see the filler or things everyone knows...but they happen off-screen, that's for sure.

- Next chapter I will be putting on YouTube the MC theme song. You will find the link in the author notes 2 of the next chapter.

It's an AI song, I know, I know...but it's PEAK, I swear. I made like 100 attempts until this one, and believe me, it's fucking PERFECT.

-In this chapter we see a bit more about the MC and his past life, and I think this will be the last one where we touch his past life. I am satisfied with how it turned out. I will read if you have opinions on this matter.

And yes, the MC said the thing, the legendary "Nah, I'd win." I wanted to write it once haha.

Relax MC is not in a dream, i don't like or follow horrible tropes in fiction.

Thanks guys and see you in the next chapter.
