Chapter 3 - It's No Use

Who had thought a silent place will fall into a field of mayhem? Steps of which had been multiplied by three, on the grounds towers above the sky. Fixed to nothing but mission to accomplish, all three drew their blade.

They say no word from what's coming, Fer's side blade drawn.

All three sentinels charged, leaving no gap to defend against. Three side covered, each had a blade pointed at their direction. The Captain's juice had run out, there's nothing she can do to bypass this second phase.

She instead pull a small blade out of her other sheathe, now dual weilded. "Run!"

Fer immediately bring Johnn towards safety, for many clash of blade had been ecountered on both sides. The Captain's totally outnumbered, their speed is much comparable to that of buzzsaw. And yet, each strike was parried by the large blade she carry.

She end up bring one down, two more to go.

Now it's easier to handle, and no one. Not a single one dares attempting dual wielding on a stake like this, only a fool will attempt this on such situation. It's inefficient and yet, now it's an equal match.

Instead of slowing down, the sentinels getting faster each second. Gradually matching The Captain's speed.

What's a smear now blurs, bunch of clapping steel colliding with each other. It isn't celebrating, it's chipping one another for who's going to survive this round.

Ferr notice something in it's pattern recognition, though subtle "There's no flaw on their patters, it covering each other's gap."

"It's 1/3 and 3/3 But the gap is extremely thin-"

Loud crack was heard. It directly came from The Captain's holding both sentinels, system is breaking. The head of one sentinel had been thrown, yet the pattern keeps going.

The Captain notice something odd, it's like the room shoots lights at her so many times. "Johnn!"

"WHAT?!"

"Detonate the room!" Blades still chipping each others, who knows how to sharpen this. Slaps of thin metal repeated more and more in a seconds, still handling with all she got.

She didn't have the chance to lift off the ground, all energy had spent on getting here. Nearly speed of sound the sentinel get, their speed slowly burn their joints. Yet it never had backed down.

Rumble felt below, or it's just either breached. 'Perfect!'

The Captain lures the sentile towards the broken area, their cordination went to riot. This left enough gap to throw one off towards the broken wall and the headless to oblivion.

The only things left were dust from a blown off wall, it's enough to put the interval off.

The Captain fell on her knee, understandably tired after all of this mess. Johnn rush towards her body that lie flat on the floor, suspect nothing on his travel towards the place.

Yet, Ferr follow him. It did this by itself, draw it's own blade.

Two blade clash, yet one's backing one's standing on it's ground. "Johnn, bring The Captain away from here."

The first sentinel to be taken down stand once more, the hit likely didn't really break the nescessary deactivation part. All of this only lead to a desperate act of prevention, two artificial life had met.

One had a mind, the other just vessel and a mission. The fear still stands, yet it is concealed by how dire the situation is.

Both charge at each other, ready to stab. Yet, Ferr step out of the way. Completely throw the momentum off.

Ferr suprisingly hold well against the sentinel, it's movement going slick more than ever. It's down to an opening after a parry, and the sentinel is cut in half. The mechanical eyes shrink, "I did it? I did it!"

It jumps around, explosive and cheerful.

"Shiaet, my head." The Captain carried by Johnn, she held her head against the gravitation.

The Captain jump from Johnn's hold, still limping around. "I can't understand how you didn't get a single scratch from that beatdown, or are you using healing magic?"

"Are you crazy?! If I use that much energy, I'll die!" Her coolness dies, as she pull out both of her blade and sheathe it back to her scabbard.

"What? You're proficient with it, why can't you use it now?" The Captain sat back on the ground, picking a dust from it.

"No, it isn't me who improficient with magic. It's you, why didn't you got affected by this magic drainage?!" Johnn tilt his head, totally unaware of anything wrong with himself.

And he just utter "What? I didn't feel anything since i haven't really affected using anything against it, for my magic isn't that strong."

The Captain sighs. "You telling me, all of that barrier of magic haven't been torn off from you?!"

"What are you talking about?" The Captain is just speechless, she stands besides Johnn.

"Calm down, i just want to borrow the first layer of that barrier." As she put her hand against Johnn's chest, and he felt a pain he had ever felt before.

He fell down, and The Captain catch him. "Calm down manchild, it doesn't really hurt. Just stand up, and you'd feel better."

Johnn came relaxed, recovering at a pace. There's nothing that resemble anything like scars on his body, and the part no longer held pain.

"Alright, now let's got to go."

Ferr follow The Captain, with an unwritten grin on it's face. "You could use some of my magic if you want to."

"No, it's because I didn't want to risk the energy poisoning." Johnn still need time to process. This put a frown on The Captain's muzzle.

"Hey, didn't you want to progress further?"

Johnn snap out of his thoughts, rush towards the next liminal space.

It's the matter of power balance, mind to peek at what's on the peak?

Wide plain of floor, in the middle was a statue holding a blue luminescent stone. It's an open space instead of a closed one, for this will be a tough one indeed.

Gusts striking faster than ever, it nearly blast off our group. For they had reach another resting point, while it's not as wide.

"At least we didn't get jumped again by an animatronics sentinel." The Captain understandably tired, rest her back against the wall for it was warmer than the entrance.

Ferr's sharpening it's blade. While it's originates from here, there's nothings related about it besides that room earlier. "What's my purpose?"

The Captain look at Ferr, clenching to her blade. She unsheathe it, slightly chipped for an old blade but still usable. Single edge and chipped blade, it is still sharp but scratched all over the place.

"Well, you need to decide your own purpose. But I have a little hope in you to achieve such goals." She frown, slowly succumbs to her drowsiness.

Johnny only heard things, he gave a light glare at Ferr. "Hey, we can find out purpose together."

"You haven't found yours?"

"No, I lost it. Worse, I throw it out." The last palace emit light like it's never before, but it's still subtle. Just a roaring gust, covering the entire thing silent.

Ferr fell silent, then responds back. "You are lucky that you have an entire objective before. Compared to me, who stands still just as decoration until you woke me up."

"Then you are purposed as such, but you're no longer that statue." Johnn gaze at The Captain, she's laying on her side while holding her blades. He looks like he's holding something for so long, but can't make it true.

Ferr also turned it's gaze towards The Captain. "My analysis data shows that she's on her early adult stage, my assumptions may be biased from her experience."

Johnn hold his urges, he screamt 'I miss my body pillow!' inside.

He's pale from doing this, and he passed out during this period. Now it's just Ferr, deep in thought. Endless calculation and data is what Ferr do, right now. Searching through endless memory it have before being turned off.

'Petty vessel, until when thou yearnest for clear purposest? While thou art bestoweth wilth one.'
