Chapter 220 - Chapter 220 - Meeting a Witcher from the School of the Viper.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hengfors League.

...

...

The three continued traveling, avoiding the main roads, as they followed forest trails, leaving the mountain area and entering the region of the Hengfors League, the kingdom to the north, with Kovir to the left and Redania below it, separated by Kaedwen through the mountains they had passed, to the right.

The campfire crackled as the three ate. It had been a day since they had left the dwarven kingdom and chosen that place to camp.

"How long until we reach the city where Yennefer is waiting for us?" Ciri asked.

"If we travel with horses, about two weeks," Geralt replied, "since avoiding the main roads makes us slower."

"I understand," Ciri said as she ate her piece of meat along with a soup Geralt had made. Madara, beside her, suddenly looked up toward a corner of the dark forest.

"Something wrong?" Ciri asked, as Geralt also looked curiously. If Madara did that, it meant he had noticed something in the forest.

"There's a witcher here. My clone just passed me this information," Madara said.

"A witcher? From which school, did you manage to see?" Geralt asked, raising an eyebrow.

"From the Viper school," Madara said.

"Wait... isn't that the same school as that witcher who went to Cintra after Lord Rushford hired him to kill you?" Ciri asked, as Madara nodded.

"Yes, it's from the same Viper school," Madara replied.

"Should we avoid him then?" Geralt questioned.

"He's injured and will probably die," Madara said and continued. "There's a nearby village. He must have taken a job and went to hunt an Alpha Arachomorph. He just didn't expect there to be a pair and was caught by surprise. From what my clone saw when he went to the creatures' lair, he managed to kill the pair that was terrorizing the forest. He was poisoned and managed to apply an antidote, but it came at a high cost with serious injuries, and he's dying." Madara explained.

"What should we do?" Ciri asked.

"We should help him. We can erase his memory easily. And I'd even like to know in advance what's being discussed on the continent over the past almost two months that we've been traveling, since we've been avoiding all the cities," Madara said, as Geralt nodded in agreement.

Madara made a few clones that appeared in front of him. He took a pouch and handed it to them with medicines.

"Do it. Tomorrow morning we'll go to his camp." Madara instructed his clones, while asking his copies to clean and treat his wounds with the items he had given them.

They disappeared, leaving the three alone again. The Witcher was a bit away from them, but they would reach him the next day, and since the clones could already save him, Madara could go later.

Then, they went to the houses Madara had made with mokuton.

"What are you thinking about?" Ciri asked inside Madara's tent, while naked under her blanket, after they had had sex.

Madara looked thoughtful without sleeping, while the young woman was about to fall asleep. That's why Ciri noticed and asked him curiously.

"I was thinking about a few things," Madara said. "I acquired the wood element, and this witcher's situation made me think—maybe I should develop healing abilities. This element can also provide me that." He said.

He had never developed any healing ability, even knowing he could create medical ninjutsu with his own chakra. But it seemed he had never been interested in it. Until now. Now that he had acquired the wood element, maybe he could develop his regeneration to the level of the original Madara, or even Hashirama, if he focused on it.

"You said you weren't interested in healing," she commented, looking curious.

"It's true," Madara admitted. "But the ability of regeneration is something completely different," Madara said, while Ciri, still a bit confused, began asking questions about it.

In any case, the wooden house Madara had created began to disassemble. They continued through the forest, while Madara's clones had already dealt with the witcher's slow death, leaving him stable, while still protecting the area against any monster or forest animal.

The camp was a mess. The witcher had set it up hastily and had laid down on the ground itself, waiting for death, seeing no solution for his injuries.

The clones had applied bandages with medicinal ointments and herbs to the wounds. Madara approached the witcher and crouched at his side, pointing a finger at his injured chest and emitting a small purple shock to wake him up.

He jolted, instinctively trying to grab Madara upon seeing him so close, but Madara easily caught his hand.

The Witcher grew even more alarmed and, despite the pain, even with part of his body cut, quickly made a sign to use a magic sign. Madara electrocuted him once more, so much so that he couldn't even complete the gesture before he began to tremble, staring in terror until Madara finally stopped.

"If you were in front of an enemy, you'd already be dead, Witcher," Madara said, beginning to rise, while the Witcher didn't take his eyes off him, still slightly trembling.

"Anyway, you're not dying now," Madara said, stepping away from him, while the witcher still watched him cautiously, starting to sit up and noticing two more people around him. He immediately recognized one of them by the eyes and the medallion on his neck.

"A Witcher from the School of the Wolf..." he murmured, looking at Geralt.

"Yes," Geralt replied in a neutral tone. "You seem to be in pretty bad shape. Don't you know that Alpha Arachomorphs nest together??" he said.

"Curse those creatures. I was a fool not to prepare for facing two at once... Anyway, well, looks like I didn't die after all and was treated. Thanks, whoever you are," he said, analyzing the three.

"Obviously, it's not going to be for free," Madara replied, as the Witcher nodded, already expecting something like that. After all, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

"What do you want? The reward money?" he asked.

"No. We don't want money," Madara said.

"Then what do you want?" he asked, still looking, wondering what that group was doing there in the middle of the forest. Not that he could complain much—he had expected to be dead.

"We want information about the continent. We're not very informed over the last few months, and we'd like someone like a Witcher, who travels and gathers a lot of information, to update us," Madara said.

The Witcher raised an eyebrow and began to laugh as he adjusted himself.

"Well, I'll be happy to answer that," he said, finding the deal quite advantageous for him. "Before that, my name is Jyrlim, one of the few Witchers left from my school. I was roaming around trying to earn a few coins to survive," he said.

"Before that, may I know the names of those who didn't let me die?" he asked again.

"Geralt." Geralt said, as the man raised one of his eyebrows.

"The White Wolf... I've heard of you," he commented, looking with interest at Geralt, before looking at Madara, while Ciri remained silent.

"Madara," Madara answered, not bothering to hide his name—after all, he'd erase the man's memories anyway.

But that already caused an immediate reaction in the man, who widened his eyes, stunned.

"Madara?! That Madara?" he looked at the boy, shocked.

"Looks like I'm famous around here. Even witchers from this part of the continent know me," Madara replied calmly.

"You're the one who killed a companion of mine in Cintra, Torin, many years ago," he said, analyzing him with great caution.

"Yes. One from your school massacred dozens of people to lure me out of the capital. It was a good fight back then, I admit," Madara replied calmly, with narrowed eyes. "And you... are you seeking revenge for your companion?"

"No," the man took a few seconds to respond, but answered immediately. "I'm not crazy. That guy willingly accepted to commit an assassination, and we witchers don't do that. Besides, you killed him when you were still just a child. We also heard you wiped out the entire Cat school, which was under the command of the southern emperor... Who am I to try to face a monster who killed fifteen Witchers?" he murmured, as Geralt raised an eyebrow.

"Is that true..." Geralt asked. He didn't know that piece of information, other than the fact that Madara had hunted some Witchers in Sodden at the time he arrived at the war, but not that he had killed a dozen of them before that, which was frightening.

"It was in Brokilon. They invaded the forest after us, and I decided to make their job easier by going to them," Madara replied, not needing to finish what had happened.

Then Madara turned his gaze back to the witcher. "But I'm surprised that I'm known in these parts," he said.

"You've got to be kidding. Everyone was looking for you. I never thought I'd find you in the middle of the forest... and you even saved me," he murmured before sighing. "Anyway, you're not going to kill me, right?"

"No. We just need some information. But of course, I'll erase your memory afterward. But I'll let you live. After all, we don't want to be found," Madara said.

"That's fair," he murmured before looking at the hooded girl. "And that must be the princess of Cintra. Well, seeing you here, I believe you were the last thing people were talking about weeks ago north of Kaedwen," he said. "Because for them to be there, it could only have been the three involved, after all the events in Kaedwen."

He started talking about the situation of the kingdom itself with the non-humans, but Madara was already aware of that and asked him to move on to other information.

In the end, they began learning about the strange events: the first explosion that alerted the entire kingdom, and various people from all corners of the continent went looking for information about the destruction of an entire forest — with Ciri growing embarrassed knowing she was the cause of the destruction after losing control of her powers.

Then came the arrival of the dragons, ending with the deaths of several mages, scholars, and armed soldiers at the site by ice and flames — but in the end, the dragons were blamed for the deaths.

"Ice? Strange... Those dragons didn't have such ability," Madara murmured, thoughtful after hearing the reports a sorcerer friend had told the witcher.

"Some pieces of a strange armor were found. No one knows exactly what it is, but it was taken directly to Redania where they're studying it," he said.

"I see. Then our business ends here," Madara said to the witcher, before activating his Sharingan, beginning to erase all his memories, which caused the witcher to fall asleep.

"I'll place some clones and seals here to protect him. When he wakes up, they'll disappear, and he won't remember anything, only that he was mysteriously saved. Let's move on," Madara said.

"And also, we don't even need to hide the tracks, since the witcher still has a reward to collect... or he would go after those who saved him just to claim his coins."

In the end, they headed south. They had to find Yennefer before leaving for Skellige.

But Madara was certainly interested in the strange armor that had been mentioned, and he would go to the Oxenfurt Academy. He found it all very suspicious, with the witcher describing it as having a skeletal design, suspecting that the Wild Hunt had finally appeared due to Ciri's magical explosion — which was quite plausible.

----------------------

Raccoon Here: The Wild Hunt returned to the place where the dragons killed the elves, along with the ice sculptures created by the elves themselves, to recover their bodies and armor — after all, they didn't want anyone else to find them. But some pieces were left behind and discovered during the investigation of the situation. This will be a good way for Madara to realize that the Wild Hunt is already here.
