CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

The pulsing around my heart region increased, and my veins popped out, the scar growing rapidly across my body. I felt a raw, primal rage building inside of me—an urge to kill, destroy, and end everything with just a flicker of my wrist.

"Ariel, it's not to be trusted," Annie's voice reached me from where I stood, just inches away from the mirror. My fingertips hovered close to the wooden carvings that surrounded its ancient frame.

The corny shadow licked its lips, bowing its head in a strangely respectful manner."I know need when I sense it,"it whispered.

It brushed aside its deep blue robes, revealing a shiny compass its end chipped and worn from time. Strangely, the compass flew open by itself, the needle spinning rapidly before pointing directly in my direction.

The compass looked old, antique even, but I could feel the magic vibrating off it from where I stood.

"It will help you defeat Ragal…" the demon began, but its voice faltered.
