CHAPTER THIRTY
Mirror
I scrubbed my arms roughly, the scar getting more pronounced around my skin, its mark burning around my elbow as it stretched far more than usual.
Each itch made it grow more prominent. The scars were scale-like, embedded like a coat all over my arm region, as it spread slowly like a slithering snake to my neck.
"Annie!" I cried fearfully, stretching my hands. "I don't want anything to do with this," I said, trembling.
"Destiny can't be escaped, my queen," she smiled, staring admiringly at the patterns of vines etched on my once flawless skin. A deep feeling of anger settled in my gut as my eyes met hers.
"You caused this!" I yelled at little Annie. Her face changed to a surprised expression as she stared at me.
"How did I awaken your source?! I have no such power, my queen." She frowned slightly, hating the accusation meted on her.
I saw my skin at the far end of the room, the mirror reflecting it—scales growing out of them as I itched.
