"Christ Church? Queen? Hermione?" asked McCormick. "Yeah. The first two I can't talk about. The third is my girlfriend." Responded Evan. "You can't talk about?" asked McCormick, still a bit in shock. "I did mention that we encountered wizards during my CTCRM training. Beyond that, I can't go into any details. State secrets and all. I met Hermione before I signed up for the RM, a few months before induction. I'd appreciate it if you treated that bit of information as a State secret as some wizards would kill her for being involved with a non-magical." Evan responded. "Your serious, aren't you?" asked McCormick. "My first meeting with Ms. Bones – 20 wizards attacked Hermione's home while I was there for dinner. I had completed 3-4 months of CTCRM training by then." "Outcome?" asked McCormick. "Let's just say that Hermione, her parents and I are here. They aren't. They weren't too happy." "Part of that 'experience' and 'training' I take it?" McCormick asked. "Yeah." Replied Evan.
"So, what now?" McCormick asked. "Well, we keep up perimeter guard. I'm going to make a few more wooden stakes, and hopefully we'll find out within the hour" said Evan.
June 20, 1996. Oster Vinyard, France. 3:30pm. Madam Bone's phone rang. "Hello" she answered. "Madame Bones! Commander Green. How are you?" "Commander! I am surprised to hear from you" she replied with a glint of laughter in her voice." "Well, we only talked last week!" He replied. "So we did, Gerald." She replied. "Amelia. I need a favor, but I don't know if you can help me. It's OK if you can't." "I'm listening" she replied. "We have a unit in the field. The unit includes Midshipman Fenix. It seems that his team was attacked by wizards and vampires." "Is he alright?" she asked. "Yes, he is. He questioned one…" "What do you mean 'he questioned one'" she interrupted. "It means there was only one left to question….." "How many attacked them?" she interrupted again. "16. Eight wizards, eight vampires…" "How many of his team survived?" she interrupted again. "None," Madam Bones gasped. "Oh, if you mean Midshipman Fenix's, they all did. Four of the team were injured previously. The three remaining soldiers, including Midshipman Fenix were able to neutralize the remaining wizards and vampires." The Commander responded. "Why am I not surprised?" Madam Bones responded. "You've allowed me to finally finish my sentence!" the Commander exclaimed. "Yes….Isn't that a surprise! It took you too long." She laughed musically. "So. Amelia, can you help us? We need the team here as quickly as we can." The Commander asked. "I believe I can help you. However, I might be able to help you more if I were able to also help in the debrief. If Voldemort is involved, I could provide a witch's insight, if you will." She responded. "I think that could be arranged." Replied the Commander. "Do you have the coordinates of where you want the portkey to arrive?"
"OK. I've made a length of rope into a portkey. How are we going to get it to them?" "For that, I think Hermione can help us." Said the Commander. "Hold on a second." He asked. He opened his watch and called out "Hermione Granger?" A moment later she responded. "Commander?" "Hermione. I am sorry to intrude on you again, but we need to get Midshipman Fenix and his team back to base as soon as possible. Madam Bones has created a portkey for them, be we have no means to get the portkey to them. I was hoping you could help us." Said the Commander. "I can help you, Commander. But I want something in return" Hermione said. "What is it with you witches?" the Commander chuckled. "Did Madam Bones ruffle your feathers, Commander?" she asked, cheekily. "Must be something they teach at Witch's School" he replied. "No, Commander – it's passed down from mother to daughter!" she laughed. "I take it you want some R&R with him?" the Commander asked. "Just some time to see him, make sure he is really OK." Hermione replied. "What, you don't trust him?" the Commander asked. "Evan? Are you kidding me? His standard reply is 'I'm fine'" Hermione responded. "So, how are you going to do this?" asked the Commander. "A little friend of mine is going to help." Hermione responded. "Magical?" he asked. "Yes. Just tell Madam Bones Dobby will be there in a few minutes." She replied.
The Commander called Madam Bones back and filled her in. He was still on the phone when he heard a small pop and then "'Madam Bones is requiring Dobby's help?' 'Yes, Dobby. Can you deliver this portkey to Hermione's boyfriend, Midshipman Fenix?' 'Oh, yes Madam Bones. I cans do.'" The Commander heard another pop, and then Madam Bones came back onto the phone. "Who was this little friend of Hermione's?" he asked. "An elf" Madam Bones replied. "An elf." The Commander responded with a sigh. "I nearly forgot about those blighters."
June 20, 1996. 16:00, Barnhouse, Serbia. Evan felt a small tug on his pants. He turned to his team mates. "Um. Guys. A friend of mine is here." At that, they all snapped their necks looking at Evan. "I am telling you this so that you don't shoot him, or try to. Dobby, can you show yourself, please?" he asked. Dobby slowly materialized at Evan's leg, with a long rope in his hand. "Madam Bones sent you a portkey. Miss Hermione says to give you a hug" whereupon he hugged Evan's leg. Evan blushed while the team laughed. "Commander says code is his last name" Dobby finished. Evan kneeled down. "Thank you Dobby. And thanks for helping to watch over us." He whispered. "Bees no problem. Snakes though having hissy fit. Dobby does not understand." He said. Evan chuckled. "It's OK Dobby. Their probably hungry. Do you think you can round up some rabbits or rats for them?"
