The efficacy of the Grass Jelly was unexpectedly potent, but it still wasn't enough.
Law silently looked at Tonpa, who was in a comatose state, naturally considering using him as a test subject.
If it succeeded, Tonpa's injuries would improve, and if it failed, it wouldn't make things worse anyway.
Thinking about how the injury on his arm had healed earlier, the recovery time was very short, as if tiny buds of flesh were clustering and blooming, such speed was up to standard.
"This is a plant I found in the earth's core area. You've seen its effects, but I'm not sure if it can revive internal organs, so…" Law pinched the Grass Jelly.
Though he was staring at Tonpa, his words were directed at Biscuit.
Kuro paced over. Biscuit pursed her lips without speaking, following Law's gaze to the unconscious Tonpa. A trace of pity welled up in her heart, as they both knew what Law intended to do.
"If it works, when treating you later, I might have to remove your stomach and spleen first." Law walked to Tonpa's side, turned back to look at Biscuit, and forewarned her about what was to come so she could mentally prepare.
"Mm." Biscuit's expression remained calm.
Law nodded, then conjured a book in his left hand.
As his own strength had grown increasingly powerful, he had long forgotten how long it had been since he last used this book to seal away body parts.
But ultimately, the day had come when he would need to use it again.
He wanted to test the upper limits of the Grass Jelly's healing efficacy, so he needed to remove part of Tonpa's internal organs, seal them into the book to erase them, and then, as Tonpa's injuries worsened, integrate the Grass Jelly into Tonpa's body to observe the recovery effect.
The intervals between these steps had to be as short as possible… the shorter, the better. If Kuro could help by swallowing the removed organs, it would undoubtedly be the fastest method.
However, it was clear that, given multiple options, Kuro would not cooperate.
Tonpa remained unconscious, unaware that Law had already set his sights on him.
Remove, erase.
Crush the leaves, integrate.
Law's technique was crisp and efficient, as if he had rehearsed it dozens of times, with no mistakes occurring.
Then, Law focused entirely on observing Tonpa's injuries. The removed internal organs regrew at a visible rate, returning to their intact state in no time.
"It works."
A flicker of joy passed through Law's eyes. He looked down at the small grass in his hand, which had three leaves. One of the leaves was more than half missing, yet it remained vibrant and full of life.
With full confidence, Law did not stop but continued to use Tonpa for further testing.
He removed another part of Tonpa's internal organs and sealed them into the book.
This time, however, he did not erase the organs. Instead, he directly crushed the leaves and integrated them into the part of Tonpa's organs that had been partially removed.
After a moment, the removed part of the organs did not regrow.
From the perspective of the established rules, Tonpa's organs appeared to be missing a part, but they were actually intact.
Perhaps because of this, the effect did not occur.
Even so, the leaves still healed the remaining injuries inside Tonpa's body.
All this testing took less than five or six minutes.
Law reattached the severed parts of Tonpa's body, then walked over to Biscuit and said with a smile, "Are you mentally prepared?"
The results of the experiment allowed Law's previously anxious heart to completely settle, making him feel much more relaxed.
Now, as he spoke to Biscuit, there was even a hint of playfulness in his tone.
Biscuit shot him a fierce glare and said, "Stop dawdling. Hurry up and get it over with."
"Yes, yes."
Law raised his hand, removed the parts of Biscuit's stomach and spleen that had become a mangled mess of flesh and blood, and finally sealed them into the book.
Before erasing them, he left a portion of his Aura on the incision to serve as a hemostasis effect, preventing Biscuit from experiencing massive internal bleeding.
After taking the safety measures, Law focused his mind, erased the stomach and spleen sealed in the book's pages, and then quickly injected the pre-crushed leaf powder into Biscuit's body.
In less than five seconds, Biscuit's stomach and spleen were restored to their original state.
As the person involved, Biscuit witnessed this firsthand, and the feeling was indescribably strange.
After the treatment concluded, Law let out a sigh of relief.
Thanks to the efficacy of the Grass Jelly, they had managed to resolve this crisis through a stroke of luck amidst misfortune… a fortunate escape from danger. However, only two leaves remained of the life-saving Grass Jelly.
If he had known earlier that the Ice Jelly Grass's efficiency was so high, he wouldn't have blindly ventured deep into the earth core's area.
Instead, he would have first conducted a carpet search to see if he could obtain more Grass Jelly.
Compared to Alluka's violent healing effect, Law's treatment was more like a not-too-precise surgery.
Without the Grass Jelly, both Tonpa and Biscuit would likely have been in danger.
Kuro and Bruna watched the entire process from the side, feeling that Law's technique and attitude toward handling Tonpa were particularly rough, whereas when treating Biscuit, he resembled a professional surgeon on an operating table.
This was probably… differential treatment.
Law retrieved the luminescent algae. After all the surgery, his remaining Aura was scarce, and he urgently needed rest.
He had originally intended to scout the surrounding area, but now, it seemed that getting a good sleep was the better option.
The sound of crackling came from the bonfire, while the rain outside showed no signs of weakening.
Law leaned against the wall, half-closing his eyes, his gaze passing through the air holes in the tree bark, quietly watching the rain curtain outside.
Biscuit, having just recovered from her injuries, had no intention of getting up. She silently summoned Cookie and had her go over to give Law a massage to relieve his fatigue as quickly as possible.
Everyone in the tree hole needed rest to recover their tired bodies and energy.
Cookie knelt beside Law, who looked at her and smiled.
When the bonfire was about to burn out, Law opened his eyes and woke up.
At the entrance of the tree hole, Kuro sat crouched like a sculpture. He was responsible for keeping watch, and after noticing that Law had woken up, he glanced back slightly.
Law stood up, the slight movement he made woke Biscuit.
Outside, the rain continued to pour heavily.
Law casually removed a few pieces of wood from the tree wall, removed their moisture, and threw them into the bonfire.
"I'm going outside to take a look," Law said, looking at the gradually growing bonfire.
"I'll go with you," Biscuit said.
Law shook his head, pointed at the sleeping Tonpa and Bluna, and said, "You need to stay here and watch over them."
Biscuit fell silent upon hearing this.
Law waved at Kuro crouching at the entrance of the tree hole. The latter lazily walked over, turned into black smoke that imprinted on the back of his hand, and then took out some food from the space, placing it on the ground.
"Be careful," Biscuit said as Law walked to the tree hole entrance.
"Mm."
Law pulled aside a thick layer of tree bark, and the wind and rain suddenly poured into the tree hole.
He stepped out of the tree hole, sealed the tree bark back into place behind him, and jumped onto a branch, looking out at the sea of trees amidst the vast, white rain.
'This heavy rain showed no intention of stopping at all.'
Law thought this to himself, then carefully observed the surrounding situation.
This place was at the edge of the sea of trees, with limited visibility. For now, nothing unusual could be detected.
