Chapter 557 - Chapter 557 Treatment

The relentless downpour continued, obscuring the myriad wonders that existed only in human imagination.

The unknown entity that Law had bisected with his Aura Slash ultimately failed to reassemble itself.

It slowly dissolved into nothingness within the heavy rain, leaving no trace behind.

The Dark Continent seemed like a creation of a god lacking both responsibility and principles.

This deity had bestowed life upon countless entities beyond common understanding… stones, bones, flames, metals, and even gases.

These existences could all be termed 'life forms', yet each category was fundamentally different.

Among them, gaseous life forms had numerous derived subtypes, such as the Gas Life Form, Ai, the Poison Gas Life Form, Void, and that certain gaseous life form hunting creatures within the rain.

Traveling through the rain curtain, their body temperatures dropped progressively lower.

Law silently took out the turtle's meat, stuffing piece after piece into his mouth. The replenished Aura transformed into stepping stones under Kuro's feet, assisting his aerial movement.

After an unknown period, all the turtle's meat had been consumed, yet no suitable shelter had been found.

From this point onward, they had to rely on his remaining Potential Aura, which was less than forty percent.

The longer this continued, the more critical Biscuit and the others' conditions became.

Fully aware of this, Law couldn't find any way to improve the situation.

Law gritted his teeth in silence, recalling the moment Biscuit and Tonpa were sent flying.

'If I had reacted just a bit faster, perhaps I could have blocked the attack for them beforehand.'

Contemplating his own inadequacies, a sense of guilt welled up within him.

This outcome shouldn't be blamed on him, but humans sometimes shoulder fault regardless.

When his Potential Aura dropped below thirty percent, his gaze finally pierced through the rain curtain to glimpse the sea of trees.

'Any tree would do, as long as there was one.'

Following Law's command, Kuro descended from the sky, landing on a towering giant tree.

Law immediately used his Nen Ability to carve a large cavity within the tree.

After bringing everyone inside, he deployed his Domain to manipulate a layer of bark to cover the entrance, leaving only sufficient ventilation holes.

Although this tree was just one among the vast tree sea, its diameter exceeded ten meters, providing ample space inside.

Gathering wood, he extracted the moisture and lit a fire within the cavity to drive away the chill brought in by the rain.

Kuro reverted to his original form, squatting by the ventilation holes.

He glanced back at Law's somber face illuminated by the firelight and said, "Here, humans are like ants… perhaps even less than ants. Surviving is already a fortune."

Law glanced at Kuro but didn't respond. Instead, he checked Biscuit and the others' injuries, also extracting the rainwater from their clothes.

Biscuit had a robust foundation. So although she was severely injured, she was at least not in immediate mortal danger.

However, having been drenched for so long during their journey, the cold had invaded her body compounded with her injuries and she wouldn't wake up anytime soon.

Without prompt treatment, her life might be endangered, possibly leaving lasting aftereffects.

Tonpa was in a worse state. A large portion of his chest was caved in, his breathing faint as a thread, hovering on the brink of death.

If not for his rigorous training over the past two to three years, his previous physique wouldn't have sustained him this long.

As Law examined Tonpa's injuries, Bruna regained consciousness.

Floating down onto Law's shoulder, she extended her tentacles to gently stroke his cheek.

"I'm fine. The lost tentacles will gradually regenerate," Bruna conveyed through her consciousness, urging Law to set his mind at ease.

The Buru Tribe's bodies were soft and fragile, but as long as they didn't suffer fatal injuries, lost body parts would slowly regenerate.

If the pressure wave had struck her brain instead of half her tentacles back then, she would have died instantly.

Law felt slightly relieved and nodded to Bruna, gesturing for her to step aside.

Then, he attended to Tonpa's injuries first. Forming his right hand into a palm blade, he used his ability to cleanly slice Tonpa in two.

With several more swift cuts, he divided him into several pieces.

Tonpa, still unconscious, remained utterly unaware that he had been dissected into multiple parts.

Law glanced at the fire, deemed the light insufficient, took out some luminescent algae, attached it nearby, and channeled Aura into it, causing it to emit light.

Next, he picked up the separated chest portion of Tonpa's body and proceeded with deeper dissection. He clearly saw the extent of the injuries: the sternum was crushed into sand-like fragments, while the damage to the internal organs was surprisingly less severe.

"The sternum is shattered like this, yet the internal organs are only pierced by bone fragments." Law murmured, finding the unknown entity's attack utterly bizarre.

Under such a heavy blow, it seemed the force was precisely controlled to a localized area, resulting in Tonpa's sternum being completely pulverized while the internal organs were spared the same fate.

Otherwise, Tonpa would have long been gone.

However, the shattered bones piercing into the flesh were also an insidious injury. Even with complete equipment and the most skilled surgical team, facing Tonpa's current condition would likely leave them helpless. But Law had a method.

His attribute, having surpassed 80%, allowed his control to significantly improve.

Extracting all the bone fragments wasn't difficult, and the main challenge lay in the reassembly, which required time. Additionally, he needed to leave a portion of his Aura within Tonpa's body to seal the wounds.

The white circle of his Domain merged into Tonpa's chest. Visible to the naked eye, the bone fragments embedded in the flesh were pulled out one by one, then reassembled as much as possible.

Regardless of whether the assembly order was correct, Law could only do so much.

Twenty minutes later, Tonpa's injuries were initially controlled. Whether he could pull through would depend on himself now.

After handling Tonpa's injuries, Law used the water algae to generate some clean water and drank it.

Then, using the same method, he cut open Biscuit's abdominal area. His expression changed drastically, as most of her stomach and spleen were a mangled mess of flesh and blood, with large sections of her large and small intestines also affected.

He had initially thought Biscuit's injuries were less severe, but from a treatment perspective, hers were actually the more problematic ones.

The injured area of the organs was too extensive. Simply cutting them out wouldn't be effective and would only hasten death.

It was precisely because Biscuit's defense was high, but due to the different location of the attack, her injuries were more severe.

The only difference was whether bones were shielding the front.

'What kind of unreasonable monstrosity was that? Aura and physical strength couldn't even provide a sliver of security.'

Law clenched his fists, feeling an impulse to return and slaughter every last one of those unknown entities in the rain.

At that moment, Biscuit slowly opened her eyes. Seeing Law's unsettled expression, then noticing her dissected body, she didn't panic excessively, knowing the effects of Law's ability.

"You're awake."

Seeing Biscuit conscious, Law immediately adjusted his mood, trying not to let his expression appear too grim.

Deep pain flickered in Biscuit's eyes. Her face was pale and bloodless. She nodded, then saw the portion of her body Law held.

Clearly witnessing the severe internal injuries, she fell silent for a moment before sighing, "I didn't see anything clearly, yet I ended up injured like this."

"It should be something similar to Void. Not being able to see it isn't strange," Law said softly to comfort her.

Biscuit remained silent. The moment she was injured, she hadn't realized the severity, mainly because the Aura Defense covering her body hadn't feedback overwhelming force.

Yet, the reality was cruel. Multiple organs were damaged to this extent.

If not for her strong physical constitution, she couldn't have held on this long. However, from here on, it could only be a slow death.

Law frowned deeply, 'If only Alluka were here...'

He shook his head, dismissing this unrealistic thought. He pondered what methods were available, then thought of the Grass Jelly.

'It had flesh-regenerating effects. Did its scope of action include internal organs?'

With this in mind, he took out the Grass Jelly from his pocket. Without hesitation, he cut a piece of flesh from his left arm to conduct a preliminary test.

"What are you doing?" Biscuit's eyelids twitched. Kuro and Bruna were also startled.

Law didn't explain. He pinched off a fingernail-sized leaf, crushed it, and applied it to the wound on his left arm.

Suddenly, an intense burning sensation erupted from the wound, causing Law to grunt involuntarily.

As the pain registered, flesh rapidly grew from the wound, restoring it to its original state almost within two seconds.

"This..." Biscuit was astonished.

The verification was successful, but Law didn't celebrate prematurely.

The flesh regrew quickly, but it was uncertain whether it applied to internal organs. Further verification was needed.

He couldn't help but glance at the unconscious Tonpa.

'If the Grass Jelly truly had such effects, it would undoubtedly be an invaluable lifesaving item, a herb with remarkably broad applications.'

The unconscious Tonpa suddenly trembled, as if in the throes of a nightmare.

Even if he were awake, he likely wouldn't have the right to object, for his life and death rested solely on Law's whim.
