William smiled lightly and followed Mia into the room, gently closing the door behind him.
She sat down by the bed and gently rocked the crib so the child could sleep more soundly.
William sat down beside her.
Not wanting to be too close to him, she immediately moved away, putting some distance between them.
William's lips still had a faint smile, teasing her. "Do I have the plague or something?"
"Just say what you want to say quickly. I'm tired." She wasn't tired at all, but she didn't want to be alone with him in a room.
William nodded and turned his gaze to the little one in the crib, speaking softly. "Did you name our son 'Lucas'?"
"Mm," she replied very softly.
He reached out and gently wrapped his hand around Lucas's little hand, looking satisfied.
Her heart trembled slightly.
Did he really plan to take her back to Paris in a couple of days?
She shook her head. "I won't go back to Paris with you."
William turned his gaze to her.
