Chapter 571 - Vita's Day Trip to the Research Institute

There wasn't much to say about Vita's life.

Her days consisted of occasionally looking up at Venus in the sky, watching the strange lights and wondering who was fighting whom.

Then, it was going shopping with Elysia, playing around, or... going to the research institute to watch strange skits.

"Vita, now that you've come to Academy City, you must forget everything from the past and re-experience the relationships between people. And don't even dream that your wisdom alone can bear the weight of a civilization."

Elysia patted Vita's shoulder earnestly and said, "You all always think the Cocoon of Finality is targeting your civilization. We won't even get into how civilized your civilization is, or whether a single person can even be considered a civilization."

"In the eyes of the Cocoon of Finality, or the Abyss as you call it, you are not even worthy of being compared to the current civilization, understand?"

Despite being verbally looked down upon, as a captive, Vita naturally had the awareness of a captive.

"Sister Elysia is right. I think so too!"

Vita responded with a radiant smile. As a fellow "bad woman," Elysia could see through Vita's wicked interior at a glance.

But that didn't matter. Vita would see even more things that would make her uncomfortable in the research institute.

"It's good that you understand. I hope you've really taken it to heart. People who don't listen will have a miserable time, you know."

Elysia's earnest words didn't shock Vita. Having wandered through Bubble Universes for years, what hadn't she seen?

However, the humanoids in the research institute soon taught her a lesson.

The being in front of Vita couldn't even be called humanoid.

A person with a traffic light for a head was arguing about something.

"I really didn't interfere with the normal traffic order of Academy City. I just used core control of the electromagnetic field, which is why a lot of electromagnetic equipment was interfered with. I just like this kind of mechanical aesthetic for a brain structure. Didn't I just use a neon sign as my brain structure two days ago?"

"You can't just assume I'm deliberately causing trouble in the research institute just because I have the ability to modify my biomechanical brain. This is also the first time I've installed a head like this. Isn't it natural that I can't control it right away?"

The staff member with the traffic light head was defending his actions. It was clear this wasn't the first time he had done something like this.

The judge on the stage seemed to have changed again. I heard the last one went to participate in the Kengan Association, vowing to deal a heavy blow to all lolicon.

Elysia explained, "Ever since Dr. Tesla developed the method of biomechanical transformation, many cyber-avant-garde enthusiasts and people with mechanical fetishes have modified themselves like this. Since mechanical structures can better accommodate equipment, many researchers, for the convenience of their work, have loaded functions like microscopes and X-rays onto their bodies."

Vita nodded blankly, following Elysia's words. She still hadn't figured out the situation of Earth's civilization. The people here seemed a bit strange.

"A traffic light? This is the first I've heard of someone installing a perspective scanner in a traffic light. You've been staring at the Hanas Research Institute's mechanical dick research for a long time. This thing!"

The judge waved his hand, uploading the files to the electronic devices of the friends around them.

Vita opened it and saw all sorts of strange and bizarre auto-erotic devices. Even more ridiculously, there was a one-click asphyxiation-orgasm system.

"Why is this here?"

She pointed at the one-click asphyxiation-orgasm system and asked with a look of existential doubt.

Elysia glanced at what she was pointing at and said matter-of-factly, "Because the genetic modification technology is too advanced, many people's sensitive spots have shifted and changed. Sometimes they have to actively experience this kind of nervous system stimulation. It's just a small matter. Look, there's something even stranger here."

Elysia also forwarded a product introduction to Vita.

Vita opened it and was instantly stunned.

It read: [Research Results on Biological Septic Organs].

This thing had already been iterated over thirty times.

"Wait, what's the point of researching this? Are you guys crazy?"

Vita didn't understand, but she was deeply shocked.

Elysia explained, "Because of the scarcity of the Honkai factor, not everyone can adapt to the Kaslana genes. Not to mention, not everyone can be compatible with the Honkai factor. So, they can't survive and protect themselves in the vacuum of space. In order to be active in space for longer periods, there's this plan to modify the digestive system."

Vita looked shocked and asked, "Can't they just go back to the base or the spaceship to solve the problem? You could also research a spacesuit excretion system. Wouldn't that be a lower cost?"

Elysia, of course, knew that would be a lower cost. She had also asked the researchers for their thoughts.

Researchers were different from ordinary people. Their ideas were always a few steps ahead of the pragmatists.

"For better environmental adaptability, and also for more Gene Tree research. The earlier you occupy a research direction, the more points and benefits you get from that direction. Don't you understand such a simple problem?"

"Their ultimate research goal isn't for practicality, but to escape the influence of the environment on people and find stronger individual adaptability."

Vita now understood. She nodded thoughtfully and looked back at the research institute's internal tribunal.

The guy with the traffic light head was still insisting. He argued, "You shouldn't be asking me. I've recorded not only this, but also other things I've seen! Some about mechanized organ modification, and some people trying to turn themselves into SELENE engines."

"Dr. Tesla has forbidden that. Their equipment is not up to standard. They can only rely on Herrschers to barely produce it, and it's not a qualified product at all. Why aren't you talking about these things! You only stare at other people's private parts! You sexually repressed, conservative piece of crap! You're not worthy of being a judge! I challenge you to a Kengan Association duel!"

The traffic light guy was quite righteous. Even Elysia, listening from the side, felt her blood boil.

The Pink Elf, along with a group of jurors, started shouting.

"Fight! Fight!"

"I've disliked him for a long time! Beat him up!"

"A duel! It must be decided by the Kengan Association!"

"Beat his internal organs, his large and small intestines out of him!"

This group of people clearly didn't mind stirring up trouble. It seemed they were just waiting for these people to fight! The more they fought, the more private research gene information they could see.

Vita felt like she had come to the wrong place entirely. She was like a pitiful little girl, drifting in an unknown otherworld.
