Grey slowly turned his head to see a nightstand with a LED clock. It was 1:28 am. That was barely three hours yet he felt so refreshed. He slowly sat up and closed with a mental command gazed into the jade slip. His eyes shone briefly before dimming. He let out a sigh of acceptance, of course that was the first thing he had to do.
The art of cultivating required something so fundamental, absorbing qi. But Grey was broken in that aspect. Not in a bad way, no it was heavily on the opposite. Grey was a mutant and his ability was energy absorption said to be omega level. The only problem was that he the vessel could not contain a lot. So it came as no surprise the first thing the jade slip gave him instructions of was making a formation to contain 95% of the qi he would absorb.
He needed jewelry.
' Must as well finish this right now '
Grey stood up and walked to his wardrobe while a part of his mind tried to grasp the process. It was honestly very easy. It consisted of sigils or words that interconnected. The only problem this would pose was shaping the sigils with qi and the part where you hard to form a connection with each sigil. He was fortunate enough to have the practice but it would still be problematic.
He reached into a small box behind his shoes and fished out for 2 bracelets. They were metallic each weigh around 30 grams with a silver coating. There was names written in cursive on both of them. Maria on one of them and Hansel on the other.
Grey's mouth curved upward slightly.
He returned the box and went to his bed, sitting cross legged. He concentrated first solely on absorbing qi, at first it was hard. He had never absorbed energy from the air itself before. But his mutant ability made him quickly feel the energy around him and in no time he was absorbing a steady string of energy.
In 10 minutes, the string of qi was in the hundreds. The feeling of energy rushing in was always addictive to Grey but this felt euphoric. He however stopped because his body could not take more. He could hypothetically force more but the backlash was horrible. It had always been horrible.
He grabbed the two bracelets and two strands of qi connected from his hand to the bracelets. Once connected Grey started shaping the sigils. The strands shuddered violently as they tried forming the sigils. With time however they slowly bent into his will and formed perfectly onto the bracelets. He then finally tried connecting them with each other. This was easier for him than the shaping of the sigils.
The sigils connected and the two bracelets shone slightly then levitated a good 10 inches. Grey reached out to both of them and they feeling his will rushed to each of his arms, settling themselves there.
Grey a sudden jolt of electricity once they settled down. There was no effects afterwards after that except that he could sense that the bracelets had a bit of energy in them. Not a lot but noticeable. He checked the time again, It was 1:52 am. He had made this formation in roughly 20 minutes.
' It somehow seemed longer. '
Grrrrr !
Grey looked down and realization struck him, he had not eaten supper. He stood up and walked off to the kitchen. He opened the door silently in fear of waking up George then closed it just as silently. He noticed a small light on the kitchen side glaring at him from the hallway.
" Probably Gwen " He thought.
His steps were silent, not out of deliberate action but out of habit.
" Ugh stupid ninjas. I swear to God this is the last time I fight ninjas. " A familiar voice grumbled. Grey was soon met face to face with a familiar person, still fishing for food on the fridge. She slowly raised herself with 2 containers of food but froze after seeing Grey.
" Um Hi Grey " Grey's eyes wondered to her body, specifically her suit. It was the well known spiderwoman costume. Now with a face instead of a mask, a genuinely pretty face.
Gwen noticing Grey's gaze suddenly raised her hands, still clutching the containers.
" It's not what it looks like. Umm Peter and I were on a comic con you know "
Grey did not respond , his gaze focused on a particular spot. It on the left side a few inches below her boob. The suit in that spot was slashed and she had coated that particular spot with web fluid. However the said web fluid had a red hue on it.
" You are hurt, lemme see " Grey walked to Gwen said and his fingers in quick succession reached to Gwen's side. He brushed his fingers making Gwen blush, her arms up still holding the containers. The blush disappeared quickly when Grey poked it.
" Ouch " She shouted but it was still silent.
" Good It doesn't look deep but I still need to dress your wounds. Go shower first. We will after I am done dressing you "
At fist Gwen did not say anything. But seeing Grey's uncompromising eyes she could not help but comply.
" Yes sir "
She dropped the containers on the counter and headed to her bedroom. A few minutes later Grey could hear multiple drops of water hit the cold tiles. After 10 minutes Gwen came back. She wore an oversized shirt and comfy shorts.
Grey did not say anything. He instead pointed to a dining seat he had prepared for her.
A/N: Short chapter I know but I was playing Elden Ring. I finally have free time after so long but even then I didn't forget you guys..... Still Elden ring. Anyway sorry for the shitty prose. I have gotten out of touch with writing novels which is dumb considering the bullshit amount of writing I do in university
