The priests plunged their daggers into their hearts, and strange black smoke erupted out of their bodies. The legion stopped as the dark plume rose into the sky.
A yellow lightning streaked through the cloud of chaos as it churned.
'This is bad.' Akshan frowned; he was not afraid of so-called Chaos Elementals; however, he was worried he would lose soldiers.
He raised his arm and shouted, "Retreat!"
A voice echoed around them, "There is no escape from judgment of Chrunus. This is the time to unleash Greater Chaos Elemental upon those foolish enough to attack his church. May the sinner's blood stain this ground."
The priest corpses slowly disappeared.
"Communion, figures." The priests were usually troublesome in large groups, after all, if their voice was powerful enough, even Chrunus would hear them. And heard them he did.
The smoke gained form, and the priests disappeared; in their place stood a mass of Chaos that served the god of Chaos.
'Well, time to call in the cavalry.' He grinned; the situation like this would lead to major losses to the first legion in most circumstances.
In any other time, he would have ordered a retreat and stood his ground against the chaos; however, this was not any ordinary time.
He had the support of equally powerful entities, and thus his legion would not suffer any losses.
He inhaled sharply and tilted his head up toward the sky, "Ruby! We require support!"
For a moment, only the silence answered him, and a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead.
The elemental stared at them, "Emejrv ej ad etermu!" It raised its hand and, with speeds surpassing, appeared above Akshan and his legion.
However, just as it was about to crush him, a streak of silver slammed into the colossal elemental.
"A hero arrives just in time!" She chuckled as she flapped her wings and landed in front of the general.
Akshan stared at the girl.
With dramatic flair, she threw back her short white hair, "A great heroine is never late nor is she early; she arrives precisely on time!"
She raised her hand in the air, and light coalesced into a large spear.
"You boys run away and let the greatest heroine alive deal with this big baddie!" Ruby grinned as she turned toward the elemental.
Akshan dared not wait; instead, he turned to his soldiers, "Retreat! Let Lady Ruby deal with the elemental."
Instantly, the well-disciplined forces of the first legion retreated as Ruby flapped her wings and crashed into the large elemental.
The mass of smoke and storm was sent flying quite a large distance as Ruby's manic laugh reached his ears.
"This will be so fun!" He stared at the girl as she flew with speeds surpassing sound toward the rapidly distancing elemental.
His shoulders slumped forward, 'I guess all we can do is watch from a safe distance before continuing our conquest.'
The soldiers retreated, leaving only Ruby and the greater elemental on the field.
She gracefully landed as she made sure that the sun shone on her. "Behold my grace and humility! I am Mother's beloved daughter, and I am here to put an end to evil!" She giggled as she threw the spear at the elemental.
However, the elemental's body merely let the spear pass through. "Ah, physical attacks don't work, shame!" She frowned as she created another spear in her hand.
"Ok is it?!" The elemental chruned as it raised its arms. The shadow covered the sky for Ruby, yet she stood there.
Its screeching was of no consequence for her. She waited for a moment, and the massive amount of dirt rose up. Yet as it cleared, Ruby was nowhere to be found.
The elemental stood still in satisfaction; it thought that the little angel had been crushed, yet a voice reached from above it. "Hello~ [Divine Smite]"
Before it could even react, a pillar of light descended upon it. It screetched and thrashed, in a reflex, its mists dispersed before appearing behind Ruby.
[Gravity Orb], an orb of gravity, hit Ruby directly and twisted her body.
"Gah!" She spat out as the air was pushed out of her lungs, but after a moment of struggle, she escaped the gravitational pull of the sphere.
"Seems I can't underestimate you, big boy." She grinned while wiping her mouth. [Holy Ward], a faint barrier of light formed around her as she dodged another gravity orb.
Instantly followed by the orb, the misty hand passed near her head; however, she spun in the air and pulled back her hair before letting the spear disappear and using another [Divine Smite] as she danced around the elemental.
The elemental dispersed and made distance once again; however, Ruby would not allow it to barrage her with the gravity attacks, thus she used another [Divine Smite], In her hand, she conjured a mace and flew toward it.
The elemental's form churned as tendrils of darkness rushed out to attack her. She flapped her wings and elegantly dodged the clumsy attack while hitting them with her mace.
She flew in the air and placed both her hands' fingers in a V shape in front of her forehead and, with dramatic flair, activated [Holy Smite].
However, unlike last time, it got hit, instantly dispersed, and rushed away to create distance.
"Smart, are we?" She smiled as the elemental conjured multiple gravity orbs.
For a moment, it seemed as though it would do nothing; however, in the next moment, it dispersed and appeared at her side. Her eyes struggled to follow it as she attempted to strike at it.
'It became faster?' She frowned.
Before she could realize, a barrage of orbs hit her back.
The sound of shattering glass reached her before the second and third spheres slammed into her back and launched her into the ground.
She let go of her weapon and curled up to roll on the ground.
Ruby rubbed the back of her head and shouted, "That was incredibly uncool!"
Yet the elemental did not care; it appeared above her and raised its arms to strike at her.
