Chapter 213 - Border Incursion [3]

Ruby rolled out of the way as the large elemental slammed the spot where she once stood. She brushed off dirt from her dress before creating another axe.

While the weaponry was not the most effective, it made her look cool, thus she would use it anyway.

"Hey, Ugly!" The elemental stopped for a moment to process what was just said to it.

"Catch!" She grinned before chucking her axe at the Elemental, then she flapped her wings and flew behind it and hit another [Divine Smite].

The Elemental's form shuddered as it mixed with the pillar of light.

Ruby gently landed on the ground and wryly smiled. She raised her weapon before her as she waited for the elemental to regain its form.

Its gaseous existence coalesced once again before a barrage of Gravity Spheres was launched toward her at great speeds.

'Time for me to put on a show.' She let go of her weapon and let it dissolve as she unfurled her wings.

She stretched her hands to the sides and waited.

The first orb came straight at her head, yet with a single side step, it harmlessly hit the ground behind her.

The second orb was launched at her torso, she dug her heels into the ground, and bent her body backwards.

And finally, the third orb was meant to hit her wing; however, instead of just furling them together, she circled around herself and faced the elemental. "You can do better than this, I know it!"

[Holy Smite], Another pillar descended upon the creature, who grew smaller with each successful hit.

"Irmu!" The mists coalesced around her, and the world shifted, yet Ruby stood still. "Come on, big boy! Hit me!"

The storm rumbled and the clouds churned. [Chaos Storm].

'This will hurt.[Holy Hymn]' Ruby began to quietly sing and heal herself. She needed to ignore the pain to truly demonstrate just how cool she was.

The chaos lightning struck her, and dark mists quickly followed.

She gritted her teeth as she endured unimaginable agony. Yet it would not be enough to kill her.

She was, after all, an angel, a perfect counter to Chaos Elemental.

The storm passed, and the elemental waited for the dust to settle. Its yellow lights flickered in anticipation, yet the Angel still stood.

Shaking, yet not visibly hurt. "Hah! ugh... That was easy!"

The elemental stopped; it did not know what was happening, why its opponent was behaving like this.

Her gaze wandered to the distant first legion. She had hoped they would see how she played with the elemental.

'I wouldn't be surprised if that general falls in love instantly!' She giggled; she did not care if people liked or loved her, as long as she was admired as Mother's best daughter.

The elemental abandoned its skills and launched itself at her, but as it was smaller, she easily danced around it and hit another [Holy Smite].

The pillar obliterated half of the elemental as it screeched.

"Ah, so you do feel pain." She flew in front of it and used another [Holy Smite].

"Jakec!" Just as she was about to launch the final strike, the elemental spoke in a voice that conveyed both fear.

"Jomen em tibu!"

"You know I cannot understand you?"

She had not expected that an elemental would be capable of even thinking for itself, but if she were to guess, it was surrendering.

"Really?! Surrendering?! Really?! You ruined my moment! Now I can't even kill you, or mom would be mad at me killing a surrendering enemy, argh!" Ruby shouted.

The elemental shuddered; despite being one of the servants of Chrunus, it abandoned the fight.

The dark gaseous form of the elemental was as small as she was; it did not fight, it merely rumbled and stared at her.

"Ugh! Fine! What do I do with you now?" She really wanted to kill it, put it out of its misery; however, Mom had only ordered her to kill priests, yet she had never specified what would happen if anyone surrendered.

It was such an astronomically small chance of happening that even her mother had not thought about it. She approached the elemental, and it truly thought it never stood a chance, and it was true.

She had played around with it just to look cool to the legion of humans that marched toward the enemy kingdom.

"I guess you can stay, but I have to ask Mom." She smiled as she attempted to pat the elemental; however, it passed through the gas.

"Ah, right. Gas." She chuckled before connecting to Aurelia.

[Mom. It's me, Ruby.]

[Ruby? Did you run into an issue?]

She waited for a moment; it was hard to explain that a mindless enemy surrendered.

[No... well, kind of.]

Aurelia's voice grew more stern, [I will send reinforcements immediately!]

[No, No! Mom, not that kind of issue!]

[Then?] Aurelia became more worried.

[Greater Chaos Elemental had surrendered.]

[...]

Ruby gulped. Mom had gone silent for far too long.

[Mom?]

[Ah, forgive me! I was thinking. Umu, go ahead, feel free to use it as you see fit.]

[Alright, mom, I will do my best!]

With that, the connection was cut.

"Well, you might be ugly, but I can use you." Ruby smiled as she passed her hand through the elemental in a vain attempt to pet it.

Ruby's gaze turned toward the legion; they would be able to march into Zigurat now and bring it into the fold of Mother's kingdom.

She flapped her wings and flew upward, closely followed by the elemental who dispersed and closely trailed behind her.

After a mere second of flight, both she and the elemental landed in front of Akshan.

"Glorious Ruby has saved the day!" She saluted with enthusiasm as Akshan stared at her and the elemental.

"Lady Ruby, thank you... However, may I ask, why is that elemental peaceful now?"

"Ah, i made it surrender. I know I am incredibly cool!" She passed her finger under her nose. "Don't fall in love now, but I wouldn't blame you."

Akshan blinked slowly; his disbelief was drawn on his face. "Sure..."

"Alright, you humans go take over Zigurat, I will be nearby to provide support!" With those words, Ruby flew away.

Akshan stared at the distancing duo. "So strong..."
