Chapter 2 - [ CHAPTER I (1) ]

[ Chapter I (1): "HOGWARTS TEACHING SYSTEM" ]

[ HOGWARTS TEACHING SYSTEM 99% ]

[ HOGWARTS TEACHING SYSTEM 100% ]

[ HOGWARTS TEACHING SYSTEM DOWNLOADED ]

[ "Huh." ] Matthias sitting on the floor stares at the texts floating in front of him; for what felt like decades, the thing finally finished downloading. Like an application or some sort. But he wasn't interested in any of that.

Instead what caught his eye is the words "Hogwarts", and "Teaching" present in the text. Hogwarts is the school that has magic in it, originating from Harry Potter, a world he knows plenty of. And teaching, that, he also knows.

[ "What an oddly specific... system." ] He mumbles. From combining both words he could have a faint idea to what type of System he has, or to what kind of powers he may plausibly have in the future. [ "Great." ]

[ "Uhh- inventory, open." ] No respons- scratch that, the air in front of him began to twist again as the digital holographic text reappeared again— in black letters, this being a response.

[ "Yea-!" ]

[ PLAYER HAS NOT UNLOCKED THIS FEATURE YET, LEVEL UP TO UNLOCK THE INVENTORY FEATURE ]

[ "Shit...!" ] The excitement he was feeling disappeared, so did his smile which instantly turned right side up. Into a deep frown marinating in disgust for the System.

The holographic text disappeared, which left the room a tiny bit darker again without the light being provided by the magical texts. So for a moment Matthias was left there, annoyed looking as he then mumbled words to himself.

The words he said ranging from but not limited to: "stupid", "screw this world", "Marvel is better", "stupid System", and many more hurtful words that a 98-year-old lady would not handle. Before then continuing with his experimentation.

[ "Shop." ] Same response.

[ "Profile." ] Same response.

[ "Mission." ] Same response.

[ "Then what the hell kind of feature do you bloody have!" ]

Saying that, the System responded and the text which infuriated him flickered out of life. Being then replaced by a picture of a present wrapped in a white ribbon, the words, [ HOGWARTS TEACHING STARTER PACK ] written on the top part of the said picture; causing Matthias to be happy.

[ "There we go, now we're getting somewhere!" ] Very unlike politics and religious reforms these days. [ "Claim it, claim." ]

He joyfully said, as a command to the System. But the said thing was unresponsive, so in curiosity, he reached out for the said picture; his hand phasing through the small digitalized box, now besides the gift. [ "Freaky, really." ]

He craned his neck to look behind the System's prompt, but couldn't see his hand. Which surprised him for sure, but also not at the same time; this being the least shocking that happened to him as of today. Before then finally grabbing the gift presented for him.

The said gift manifested right in front of his eyes, in the 3D world. To his amazement that is. [ "Feels like Christmas all over again." ] He shook the box which felt light, feeling something inside clatter; to satisfy his curiosity, he then opened it, wondering what gift he'll be receiving.

[ "This is..." ] He scanned the box which is bigger on the inside and instantly noticed robes, the wizardry kind. Some books with titles hovering above it. A pile of gold coins with SC inscribed into each one... And lastly, a stick.

He took each and every single one of them out with handled care, from the void and into the 3D plain; laying them all out for inspection in his bed. The last one being something he instantly recognized. [ "A Wand." ]

If that wasn't enough to confirm his suspicion, then perhaps the floating text above each of the said items was enough to answer that:

[ BLAND WAND (COMMON) ]

[ WIZARD ROBES (COMMON) ]

[ READING GLASSES (COMMON) ]

[ THE STANDARD BOOK OF SPELLS (GRADE 1) BY MIRANDA GOSHAWK ]

[ A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO TRANSFIGURATION BY EMERIC SWITCH ]

[ 100 SYSTEM CREDITS ]

Though he feels the inclusion of reading glasses to be peculiar, he still welcomed it. Especially with the other items in the pile being more than enough to satisfy him; all of which are something that nerds from his original universe would fan girl, and even commit murder for.

First and foremost the Wand, he inspected it and could feel something weird resonate with him. Though the thing looks not like a wand which he had witnessed in his television screen, instead looking more like a toy made for mass production. The System recognizes its authenticity.

[ "What a wonder." ] Which is enough for Matthias to worship it, like the holy relic it should be. This is after all his very first, and one and only Wand. Why shouldn't he worship the said thing like it's made out of diamonds.

Though he doesn't question the thing's authenticity, Matthias still prompts to test the said Wand's capabilities. [ "Expelliarmus." ] So he tried casting the infamous Disarming Charm from memory, with intent and hand gestures learnt from watching the movies. Unsurprisingly it didn't work at all.

[ "Brilliant, couldn't expect less." ] Thinking that it may be due to lack thereof mastery, intent, a mispronunciation on his part, or that the said spell is too complex for him.

So Matthias switched spells and picked a much more easy one, one that could easily be done by a No-Maj if he or she was given magic this very instant. And that'll be the basic Wand-Lighting Charm, [ "Lumos!" ]

Matthias decided to scream, to better visualize and focus. In doing so abandoning what little dignity he has left; which isn't that much. Not at all worried about the soon-to-be noise complaints from the neighbors.

[ "Damn..." ] It didn't work. He cast it again, screaming a little softer than before; then again, nothing happened, not even a spark. Then again, again, again, and again... No, it didn't work for him no matter how hard he tried.

He even started to wonder why the System inside his head gave him a Wand to begin with, if he doesn't even have the basic capabilities to be a Wizard. [ "Thing's faulty." ]

[ "Wait." ] He remembered the books he acquired, one for Transfiguration and one for Charms. He then dug in on the Charms book, frantically searching for the Wand-Lighting Spell and how to properly cast it.

[ The Wand-Lighting Charm is simple, but requires concentration. Take care not to accidentally set your wand alight as damage of this kind can be permanent. If in any doubt about your abilities you would do better to buy yourself a magic lantern. ] Miranda Goshawk, the author.

[ "Loved the sas, madam." ] He continued reading the segment specially reserved for the Wand-Lighting Charm, a full three on page which has drawing in it.

The said drawing is likely for the children to better imagine the said spell, as the book he is reading is after all intended for first-year Hogwarts Students. He wasn't given the chance a decade ago, so he's making up for it.

He doesn't know if he has the capabilities to be a Wizard. But he did die, transmigrated into another body residing in a fictional universe. He awakened a System and now that said thing gave him a Wand. If he isn't a Wizard after all of that, then he would rather jump out the window.

[ "I understand it now." ] He doesn't. After what felt like hours, of reading and re-reading the same said 3 page of magic contents. He still fully doesn't comprehend. But to test himself, he tries to cast the same said spell.

[ "Lumos!" ] It didn- no, it actually did. A faint glimmer appeared from the tip of his wand— a white light which was so dim, it was dimmer than the future the original Matthias had. But still, it's something.

Wide-eyed and amazed, Matthias realized there and then that he is actually a Wizard. Not the 70-year-old virgin kind, or those hundreds or-so of years old knowledge white hair, white beard, staff-wielding geek kind.

No, he is instead the cool, badass, awesome variety; the Harry Potter Wizardry variety— arguably the best depiction of wizards and magic in all of fiction. [ "Yeah, baby! I guess I'm not such a disappointment after all." ]

He glanced at the tip of his wand, which previously illuminated a small white light. He wanted to replicate it. To do so he needs to do what Mrs. Miranda Goshawk wrote in the book, and that'll be to imagine.

Aside from the usual mala practice of wand waving and pronunciation, which is the basics of it. Imagination, intent, and emotion plays best; some could even say a bigger part compared to the former two. So he used that.

He imagined the times when Daniel Radcl- Harry Potter, the notorious titular hero of the wizarding world used the spell. First in his room, then in the Department Hall of Prophecies before destroying thousands of priceless Prophecy Records— those round white orb things.

He added a tinge bit of intent, lighting the tip of his Wand and not the whole of it. Plus the emotions which are conveyed via his voice, [ "Lumos!" ] The screaming kind.

[ PLAYER HAS SUCCESSFULLY CASTED THE WAND-LIGHTING CHARM, PROFICIENCY INCREASE 0.2% ]

[ ---------- ] [ ---------- ] [ ---------- ] [ ---------- ]

[ FUN FACT: Wands are the best friends of wizards and witches, they use such alchemical products to easily channel their magical power— centralizing the effect for more complex results. Spells are mostly cast with Wands, but some who are proficient enough simply do not need the training wheels. Magical creatures such as House-elves and Goblins can do magic, but are banned from having Wands; the latter disagrees, thus the notorious Goblin Rebellions that Professor Cuthbert Binns (History of Magic Professor, Ghost) loves, began. ]
