Chapter 202 - Source Origin(49)

"...."

"Well, what do you say? Do you agree?"

"I don't wholly agree, we are still different beings after all, our minds can not be completely the same in any way, I should know that best, I am the worker who worked in the shadows of your mind, though I do believe a new subconsciousness will soon be born from you, no that you'll ever meet them, still, I have to agree that you wield a powerful argument that I can not easily disprove..."

"so..."

"So, that means I'll let you live for now, but beware, I am the original owner of this body, for Cades didn't vanish, when you appeared, he and I, I and I, simply became one, as we were always one together, I am Cades Kirgun, you are a Lich, and still a Kirgun, I will always be able to kill you, you can not always run away from your very soul, your very mind, hidden in your own depths, I will always be there, and when you blink, I am there to clean your eyes, when you look in the mirror, I'll see you, when you eat food, I will taste it, and I will be there, when you clean your ass after going onto the toilet I'll, sadly, be there, and trust me, I am not a fan of that fact either, but I will also be there when you fight, when you grow, when you show me if your words mean anything or not."

"Then... am I free to go..."

"No, not yet.. I have something I wish to show you, something I believe will be quite beneficial to our goal, and to you growing more and more powerful, after all, the subconsciousness bears many secrets, I bear information you have long since forgotten, I bear talents you have never been able to dig up, but there is one talent I really want you to have so we can get revenge..."

"...well, this is quite a change in ambience, isn't it?"

"Indeed. I feel quite relaxed when talking to you like this, Lich, perhaps because we both are, or at least, originated, from Cades, almost as if talking within ones own mind, isn't it?"

"Yes, it's actually quite healing, a bit recovering for our psyche from what I can tell.."

"Well, I believe it is time for you to perceive again, aside from my voice...."

"..."

"I'd brace myself if I were you, you are half-way unable to understand your own thoughts right now, it*s going to be quite a big shock when you get attacked by all of that at once."

"Wha-"

It was crushing.

Countless questions ran through his head, though most of them had already been answered by Cades, perhaps because of this very fact, because he already knew this would happen, and still, he felt a bit freer, almost lighter, than before, as if this talk had really lifted a great weight of his consciousness, perhaps in a literal sense as the chains had vanished, and instead, there stood a child in front of him.

As Cades was grappling with the fact that he was a lich, he looked around and saw an endless expanse, the dark ground still mirroring, nothing above, nothing beyond, all that's visible the lighted edges of the endless expanse, the very horizon, glowing in the ghostly light, aside from the child that was, the child he knew very well to be the monarch, the god, of this place, a child he knew to be capable of killing him at practically every moment if he so longed.

His very mind screamed, but still, the child, small, yellowish eyes, fluffy dark wings on the back, simple and childish clothes, mostly black, a choice he had often made back then, partially due to the simplicity, though he now saw that it did not compliment his already pale complexion that had been quite bad back then because he had often been staying home to read in books and learn, often about artificing, but just as often about other things.

There was a warm smile on their face, the complete opposite of the chined angel he had seen before, a sight he truly never wished to see again, though he almost felt as if the child was still made out of the guilt, out of the pain, out of the suffering, out of the chains, simply hidden by the ruler of this place, a simple task indeed for the subconsciousness to hide something within itself, whether secrets you want to forget, or information you wish to retain, it all gets there at some point after all.

"Come, I will show you what I've been talking about.."

The child waved it's hands, as if to show that it was still, at least to a part, real, not just the subconsciousness's way of appearing, not just an empty body of nothing, but it failed spectacularly, due to the simple fact that Cades had forgotten that the mouth had to move to speak, but still Lich didn't really care, he simply followed, but was quickly stopped by a rigid movement of the arm, being forced to halt in place, unable to move even a single inch forward, even his breathing completely stopped, though that didn't really matter anymore, at least not right now.

Cades bowed over, lying down on his stomach, and soon enough, he punched into the endless mirror, and his hand went in, causing small waves to spread all over, spreading quickly, across infinity, unhalted, unstoppable, for there was nothing to force against them, no reason for them to stop, nothing, they would simply be there until Cades forgot about them.

A second later, a violent purple glow radiating across hundreds of feet, right under them, condensed, and then, the child, seven years old, 4'11 tall, looked at Lich with his black hair and yellow eyes, smiling wryly as he held something within his hand that could only be described as pure light without form, a violent torque of endless light, purple as can be, without physical weight, matter, or even fixed state, yet held within a single hand of the child.

"This little thing is known as the light of dominion.."
