Chapter 229 - Source Origin(76)

What was it that would prove himself to motion itself, to the being that loved progress more than anything, to a being that had put no worth on his abilities when it came to fighting, but rather on something entirely different.

To be honest, it had almost become a wash in his mind, but he was certain, every time he had entered a new area, he had learned something new about him, his abilities, or something else, when he had first fallen he had achieved the mana sense, and he had made progress int hat regard, when he had entered the area of those gigantic, flying, and living lamps, he had learned to master the mana sense to greater effectiveness, as he had entered the place of challenge he had learned, abruptly, of the pillars, however mysterious they might still seem.

The first battle had been against an enemy that had controlled the surroundings, and int he second battle he had learned he should always do the same before a fight, control the surroundings.

In the second battle he had met the vampire, and he had understood how powerful they were, learning he shouldn't judge people by the way they are, but simply analyse and understand, something he already had known but had simply been driven deeper into him by that happening.

In the third battle, against two people, however unfair he still thought that had been, he had learned to improve his control over mana and his mana sense even further as he was lost in that cloud of dust caused by the magician, cursed be his unknown name.

After that battle the greatest step had taken place, a step where he had learned who he was, who Leyk was, and what was beneath his very mind, he had met Cades, he had found peace and chaos, he had bee corrupted and he had almost died, that was certain, but he had also learned so much, gained the light of dominion, though he still didn't entirely know what that was, that was great, and he had even gained a comrade, someone to be there for him, though right now, he still felt how he was remaining silent, seemingly already knowing what was going on.

Because after that he had met his fourth battle, he had met Vexxen, and though he had even defeated, he had learned many things from that battle, he had learned the manifestation of intent woven into magic, aura, he had learned his own weaknesses, he had learned propulsion through mana in that specific scenario, he had learned his own death, and he had learned that Cades was able to do things he didn't want to know about.

Finally, just before entering this place, he had met Cades again, and he had learned that his other self was doing okay, he had been calming down, he had learned how Cades truly was, what the true nothingness was, what Vexxen had done, at least partially, and he had learned that Cades could do something he'd rather he wouldn't be able to do.

Lastly he had arrived here, and here he had understood this, he had understood the challenge of motion, he had understood the trials of the oldest child, of progress, because without progress, without magic, without motion, nothing would happen, that was for certain.

She had wanted him to learn, to grow, to understand, to further himself, and right now, she didn't want a powerful spell he knew well, she wanted him to grow out of himself and create something he had never done before, something completely different, something combining those things he had learned, the mana sense which taught him how to see in nothingness, the domain which taught him to control the battle, the mastery which required his concentration, the aura which required his intent.

Concentration, understanding, intent, awareness, that was what he needed, those were some of the most important parts of any battle, and he was certain that those, at least to a great deal, made up who he had become in this place, a lover of battles, someone who would one day seek them out just for the thrill, and while he still did not understand what he was doing, something changed in reality instead of just within his mind and soul, within his subconsciousness, closely watched by Cades who, had he had a form, would have shaken his legs in excitement as he laid down on his stomach, his head helped stay upright by his hands curled to fists, like a little school girl, humorous and funny as ever, for whatever reason he might be so.

Thin strings came from his body, and he felt how parts of himself became part of the object, not vanishing, simply copying themselves, he felt how he became the ring, he felt how he grew further and further, but not in strength, not in size, in awareness, in concentration, in understanding, in intent, and for just the smallest of moments he felt what Cades had meant with instinctual knowledge, he felt something being created that held not a spell, not anything else, but what he had become in this place, he felt a tool being created that encompassed his growth, he felt ecstatic at that masterpiece, greater than any other he had ever made before.

But it wasn't like he was truly making it, it was more like it had already been made, like he was only calling it forth from inside of him, only giving it the mass it needed and a story to finally exist, a story with a beautiful beginning, an endless middle, and an unknown end, his story, as it had always been, as he had been, as he had lived and as he would live.

Finally, he felt himself coming back, strings of intent without colour, the inside of his fist having become greyish and colourless, all colour having wandered to his new artifact, an artifact that should impress anyone with how much he had grown in this place, his artifact, his earring, him.
