Chapter 332 - Journey to the golden City(26)

"That part was clear, but there is a second one, more of a blessing than a contract, but still." she began, muttering silently as she seemingly saw the need to elaborate further, her eyes peeking up, her chin pointing towards the two as her eyes looked into the distance, calculating possibilities, theorizing when it came to the magical aspect, as was normal with magic users of most worlds, Avere doing the same, but not having anything to anchor his theories onto, Leyk seemingly just waiting, having leaned himself against a pillar for a short while as they had been thinking, awkwardly having fallen through the surprisingly liquid golden creation and struggled to stand up, his clothes now slightly golden, the shine quickly vanishing after the queen began talking anew.

"I have seen contracted of countless lesser pillars, of archetypes even, I have seen ones of great pillars often as well, but not yet have I seen one such as this, it is wondrous and rather plain at the same time, working congruently together with the contract of experience, but changing what you are in fundamental ways, even disarming the curse in part." she muttered, more to herself than to Avere, Leyk growing more and more interested as she began listing the things she thought of, a wish growing inside him to ask her about his own curse, but putting it off for later on.

"Did you see any kind of being other than the great pillar during the last conversation?" she inquired, telling both Avere and Leyk that the last conversation seemed to be a stable when it came to such contracts, Avere quickly writing that off as both important and interesting and returning to answer her question, remembering the figure the great pillar had talked with, the one that had touched him and sent him away.

"I think there was one." he said, struggling to remember the features of the being, only remembering the descriptive feature of a young child, one that the great pillar had seemingly been the slightest bit put off by.

"Any descriptive features?" Crisis asked as such.

"Even one word could do in such a case?" she inquired further, Avere finally answering after he thought a bit more, Leyk now feeling that something was off, realizing the things were a bit bigger than before, but still not realizing, something stopping him from a simple task.

"There came a child, that's really all I can remember when it came to the features, neither species nor gender remains, neither scales or how many eyes, neither height nor width, just that it was a child, and I remember that the greater pillar, or perhaps the being that the greater pillar had acted as, had been annoyed... or perhaps it had been put off slightly and nothing more than that... the child said some things as well, but no matter how hard I try" his head began aching greatly, " I can not remember what it said." he explained, his voice coming out with a hint of desperation at his own inability to remember at the end, realizing that when he tried to recall the nature of the great pillar it became blurry as well, Leyk trying and realizing the same as well.

"It is natural to forget the nature of the great pillars, once that seem to only act as they feel one would act, not as they truly are, not as they could be, as they need to be, but from what you told me" she paused, " it is fairly clear you met the child."

Both Avere and Leyk perked up, fearing both instinctively and, in Avere's case, logically, as he had already heard of the child from the telling of the greater pillar, Crisis being quick to continue on, telling Avere what he needed to hear the most, the thing that was off with his body.

"You don't have a body." she exclaimed resolutely, her voice calm but utterly decisive and smashing down upon Avere as an anvil heavy with despair and confusion, the voice quickly picking up the explanation all over again and elaborating further.

"When it comes to the contract of experience cadonian manipulation is quite the big part of it, be it no the most important one, that is, well, experiences, pain, suffering, happiness, mental strategies you are sure to come up with later on when you understand what you can truly do, but to do any of that, you need to understand intent which you don't seem to do." she began, Leyk nodding at the last few words but listening intently, his figure still smaller than before, something still stopping him from a simple task he somehow couldn't think of, Avere not doing anything but listening.

"Because of that your other blessing, the blessing given by the child, though I don't understand why it gave you one, is going haywire in a symbiotic way together with the Cadon, perhaps the reason it was made as such, perhaps intent of it in the beginning, the very reason the second blessing is.. to be honest... weaker than normal... by a lot." she continued on, crushing the hope of Avere to one day beat up Leyk with ease with one swift motion.

"Normally, at least from the legends and myths carried by some rare forsaken to this place, ones I asked them to tell me about as information, true information, about the child and the old man tends to be surprisingly hard to come by, the contract of the child gives something one can only call immortality, at least as long as one wants to live, and as long as one doesn't oppose greater ones such as the pillars." she responded, raising Avere's hopes a bit and making Leyk even more interested as he remembered how he had beaten Avere with ease, though, he guessed that Avere was still alive, the proof standing right in front of him and talking with the golden queen.

"All put together from all this I think your body is a construct of born from the natural desire to be and to have form, intent that one naturally has, always oozing out before becoming a scribe and learning to weave mana together with intent, your true self seems to be in that marble you hide inside of your body, your upper chest, around your heart to be exact, right where the mana organ would've been in my species." she ended it all, now expecting an answer.

"Huh" Avere absentmindedly grunted, his eyes lost, Crisis now looking at Leyk with great interest, a small smirk at the edge of her lips, causing folds to appear that didn't seem to be there normally as they were exceedingly small.
