I could barely believe what the Champion Tree was saying. The Usnea God decided to stop the Game of Evolution together with Dalmanrach and me? When? Why?
Did this happen before they decided to ally themselves with me or later? Dalmanrach had to be involved in this—did he tell the Usnea God about this at some point? What if Usnea God was playing tricks on Dalmanrach and was planning to betray us?
No, the latter made little sense. Usnea could probably expose this "plot" at any point if they wanted to. Dalmanrach had enough enemies amongst the gods that this accusation would be listened to and most likely wouldn't end well for him.
I had to ask more, but…
I forced myself to calm down. The creature I was actually talking with wasn't the Usnea God themselves, but only a proxy. A proxy who was also a tree, and could only tell me what it was taught to believe.
'The Champion Tree, are you supposed to tell me anything else besides this?' I asked.
