In the past weeks, the teaching/conditioning program prepared for the Champion Tree has been put into action. According to what Amby told me, the select Agents and Teachers picked as the tree's tutors gave lectures to it every day.
The tree didn't care for most of them, so each lecture had to be repeated two… or three… or five… or ten times before the Champion Tree accepted the new information.
This resistance to learning came from the Tree's incredible indifference to anything not related to its main goals.
My girls, of course, tried to play on these goals to make the Champion Tree more agreeable. For example, they tried to threaten that if the Champion Tree doesn't learn what it's told, the "little creatures" won't carry its seeds anywhere.
