Chapter 13 - Sanguinferno

Huffing and puffing, Khalid was lugging his arms and legs barely.

Damn it. Now I know why Miss. Crimson said that, I a weak little sh*t.

Freeze again. Khalid was sick and tired of this. Taking advantage of the short freeze, he takes in the deepest breath he can.

In truth, he has the upper hand. The Delimon was panicking. Perhaps it was confused - why its future vision isn't working. Overusing its future sight, it kept freezing all the time, perhaps trying to make sense of Khalid's moves by using it so much.

Panic didn't mean powerless, its strength isn't to be ignored. No matter how ready Khalid was, it still consumed all his strength and concentration to fight toe to toe with it.

How much longer Elena? Goddamn it.

Still, Khalid continued to dodge.

The wakizashi seemed to be a wreck, the outer metal of the blade clearly cracked and chipped, the guard long shattered, the grip almost ripped completely, exposing the metal below - sweaty and slippery.

His dagger wasn't much better, although its thick lower end made it harder to crack or break.

After all this struggle, he still hasn't made a dent on the abomination, now questioning if physical attacks even do anything.

I'm going to die aren't I? I should've just ran. Why did I even stay?

He lost all logical will to fight - but his body wouldn't let him die. He still persevered, parrying its long arm with the almost shattered wakizashi, and returning it with the slash of the dagger.

His slash was blocked, instead of mocked or ignored, for his useless attempt. Blocked by a thick molar, which seemed impossible to penetrate - dense and thick, yet Khalid was smiling.

So you DO have a weak spot. However I have slashed his lower abdomen many times, why protect this time?

And then he finally noticed it, two very small footprints were on the floor, as if a little creature had leapt to avoid his strike.

'Bingo B*tch'

Another reckless idea slipped into his brain.

Avoiding the next attack, Khalid countered with a large slash, from the creature's -what he guessed to be- nave to its chest, big enough to wedge his head inside.

And that's what he did.

There it was, a little creature, the size of a football, nested inside its body, terrified at Khalid's sneering face.

The illusionary Delimon - the abomination which Khalid has been fighting - brought its teeth around the open section of his body, and attempted to chomp Khalid's face off. But Khalid was faster.

He impaled through the illusion's torso, stabbing outward, he came out its back. Using the open back to his advantage, he spun and slashed where he had last seen the real Delimon, but it wasn't there, the slash went straight through Imaginary Delimons thighs doing no damage.

'tsk'

It can move. That's quite annoying.

'ELENA. You better pick up the pace because I can't go on much longer.'

And pick up the pace she did.

Finally, she snapped her eyelids open, allowing deep crimson irises to be seen, which contained vanta black tiny orbs that circled around her pupils. Her breath faint but visible, a see through, but definitely there, a seductive red colour, completely immersing Khalid in her beauty.

The Delimon isn't as much of a fan as Khalid of Elena's awakening.

It launches itself at Elena, to which she responds with a swift and graceful jump, sending the Delimon flying into a nearby tree.

'Fill me in.'-she demanded.

'Yes mam, it can see the future by around 2 seconds when it freezes. This large intimidating body is fake, doesn't take damage. The re-'

Khalid dodged another swipe and continued talking- 'The real body is much smaller and I think it will die if we hit it. Also - what happened to you?'

'I don't know, I just felt that I needed to sit for a short period of time and meditate, now I feel strong, powerful, perhaps even strong enough to fight this abomination.'

The Delimon panickily attacked in a frenzy but all to no avail.

'Throw me your dagger - or my wakizashi.'

And that's what Khalid did.

As soon as Elena felt the hilt in her hand, she took an attacking stance, elegant, sharp and dangerous.

'I'll fight it for now, five minutes rest and then you help me kill it if I still haven't killed it'

'Alright, when it freezes though don't move.'

'Yeah, I understood it when you said it freezes to look at the future.'

Impressed by her genius, Khalid backed up and hopped on a nearby branch looking at her elegant fighting style.

It was beautiful, breath-taking even. He couldn't take his eyes off, she looked like she was dancing -each attack quick, precise and graceful..

However, if its one thing survival has taught him, the easier it looks, the harder it is.

Furthermore, the fact that he is yet to be exposed to this fighting style suggests one of two things: Number one, that its a hard fighting style, witch means not many are bothered to learn it, after all if it was easy everyone would use it.

Number two, its her families dagger fighting style.

Quickly discarding his second thought he convinced himself that no one would expose such an elegant style this easily.

But he did make sure to pay as close attention to her as possible, Not because she's too beautiful though.

He tried to convince himself.

Well he is half right, at least this time. This is because he needed to pay attention to her to internalise as much of this fighting style as possible.

The five minutes passed far too quickly though.

Still visibly fatigued, he jumped down and fell right on the Delimons head, slashing it from the top of its head all the way down to its lower back.

Elena quickly responded by grabbing the real Delimon and stabbing it repeatedly until it stopped moving.

Whilst she was dealing with the real Delimon, Khalid dealt with the fake one.

After continuous struggle, they finally stopped moving.

'Haaaaaa' Khalid let out, and he fell on the floor, lying down in a star position.

'This b*tch is finally dead.'

'Yeah, thanks to your thinking Lid.'

'Of course, after all, I am the genius of GPA 32'

'Yeah, the one who flirts with all Crimson's women.'

'Let it go man, just let it go.'
