Chapter 20: The first round of the test
All the students are in the dome and are awaiting further instructions.
Seito: All the other classes are here as well (looks around)
Iroase: There are a lot of students here, I wonder if any of us can make it to the top 12.
Seito: I'll definitely make it to the top 10, mark my words.
Kuro: Sure you will, bud.
Seito: You don't think I can do it!?
Kuro: I never said that.
Seito: I'm so going to kick your butt in the test.
Kuro: Wow, I'm so scared.
Seito: You little...
Kazuo: Calm down, Seito. Save it for the test.
Ms. Aikawa: listen up everyone! Here's what's going to happen. There will be 2 rounds, the first 50 students will fight in the first round and the other 50 in the second round. As you already know, your goal is to get as many bells as you can. Remember the top 6 students with the most points at the end will move on to the next part of the test. Killing an opponent is prohibited, if you do so you will be expelled and taken to prison. Any questions?
Everyone is silent
Ms. Aikawa: okay I will now call out everyone who will be fighting the first round. If I call out your name come forward. Kazuo, Kuro, Kato, Sakai, Inoma, Mizuki, Kisuke, Inomata, Jade, Hina. The 10 of you are in the first round, the rest of you will be spectating.
Kazuo: So we're in the first round, Kuro.
Kuro: Looks like it
Seito: Man I wish I was in Kuro's round. I was so ready to beat him.
Kuro: We all know that's never going to happen
Ms. Aikawa: Okay everyone who's not fighting this round follows the other students over there (points to the other students), everyone else follows me.
They start walking with the teacher
Mizuki: Hey, Kazuo right?
Kazuo: Yeah, what's up Mizuki?
Kuro: You know her, Kazuo?
Kazuo: Sort of yeah, I ran into her last night.
Kuro: I see
Mizuki: Hi, I'm Mizuki. Are you friends with Kazuo?
Kuro: Yeah, I'm Kuro.
Mizuki: Are you guys ready for the test?
Kazuo: I'm ready
Kuro: So am I, the test doesn't seem hard.
Mizuki: I'm actually nervous about it, I don't want to be eliminated early.
Kazuo: Don't be nervous, this is only the first test.
Mizuki: It's impressive how confident you guys are, I could never be that confident.
Kazuo: Don't sweat it, I'm sure you'll do well
They make their way to the arena
Ms. Aikawa: This is where I leave, there will be an instructor taking it over from here on. Good luck to all of you. (Leaves)
After Ms. Aikawa leaves the instructor comes in
Instructor: Good morning everyone, I'm your instructor for this test. It looks like everyone is here already. So let's get started, shall we? I will now show you your starting points, follow me.
The instructor starts showing everyone where is all the starting points.
Instructor: Here is your point
Kazuo: Alright
The instructor leaves with some of the other students.
Kazuo: I wonder where Kuro and Mizuki are, how far away are they from me.
Someone starts speaking from the loudspeaker
Instructor: Everyone, we will be starting in the next 5 minutes. I repeat, the next 5 minutes. The whole map will be shown to you on the TV in your room. You will only have 30 seconds to gather information. However, the whole match will be shown to all the other students on the big screens. Everyone else will be watching the match, once you are eliminated you can leave the arena, exits will be shown to you once you get eliminated. That is all for now.
The instructor stops speaking and everyone is waiting for the first match to start. The doors open, the match has started and everyone is rushing out.
Kazuo: So it's started, no going back now.
