Blaize was frozen to the spot, not moving, not even when her brother closed the door behind him and came closer. She stood near the bookshelves at the edge of the study, and even though the scrolls had dropped to the ground, her hands still trembled violently.
"Are you going to speak," Zephyr asked, his voice cutting through the heavy silence when he grew tired of waiting, "or are you going to just stand there shaking like a leaf?"
Blaize seemed to come alive then, her fingers tangling with one another as she took a small, hesitant step forward, her entire posture radiating guilt.
