Chapter 292 - The Ugly Truth.

When Selene opened her eyes, she felt the cool, damp moss of the riverbank beneath her palms. The air here didn't move; it hung, still and silent, smelling of wet stone and something old. This time, the sight of the water didn't spike her fear. She knew this place was a doorway, not a coffin. As she stood, her eyes scanned the familiar, fog-hazed landscape and landed on the lone, veiled figure sitting on a rock. A wild, painful hope swelled in her chest, pushing her forward.

"Hello." Selene said softly as she got there. The person stood—the same height as Selene—and then turned around and lowered her veil.

Selene gasped and stepped back immediately. It was like she was staring into a mirror, at someone who looked exactly like her, dressed exactly like her.

Selene took more steps backwards and her duplicate laughed softly.

"Really? Do you mean that?" she accused. Her voice was Selene's as well, but there was a more confident tone to it, more daring, more challenging.
