Chapter 57: Blueprints of Tomorrow (1)
Morning—if you could call it that in a space with no sun—broke softly within Hope's Refuge.
The air shimmered with pale gold as the simulated cycle shifted, bathing the control deck in a comfortable glow. The walls rippled once, as if stretching awake.
Ava yawned and stretched her arms over her head, her hair sticking up in chaotic tufts. "Good morning, not-morning. ( ̄▽ ̄)"
Zephyr was sprawled over a console chair upside down, head hanging off the edge. "Define morning. We haven't slept properly in… how many training cycles?"
Alyssa sipped calmly from a cup of virtual coffee she had no idea how Cream Puff generated. "Forty-eight. You've also snored through at least twenty of them."
Zephyr frowned. "You counted?"
Kael didn't look up from his tablet. "She has a spreadsheet."
"Of course she does," Ava muttered, suppressing a grin.
