The bolt sliced through the air toward the Venom Ravager.

A spine shot in from the side and collided with it mid-air.

The explosion went off early.
A shockwave rippled outward, and smoke and debris rolled across the battlefield, hiding the enemy from sight.
Ben was not fooled.
He clicked his tongue. 'That damn Spine Ravager.' The long range unit had reacted instantly and intercepted the shot before it could land.
His annoyance passed in a moment.
He did not stop.
"Fire!"
A second later, the Krell scouts released a storm of arrows.
Dozens of shafts fell like heavy rain toward the Ravager forces.
The sudden assault forced the Venom Ravager to respond.
Its glowing spines pulsed several times in quick succession, sending out a command.
The Ravagers moved as one.
They surged forward, claws tearing into the ground as they charged.
Their formation shifted at once.
Squads spread out to reduce casualties.
