Ebonstone was a stone that carried the power to absorb and disperse. Its defensive abilities were decided by its size. Theron thought that whatever Resonance he grasped from it would likely have to do with this and increase his defensive abilities a great deal.
What he didn't realize was that this was only part of the truth.
This reality was only how Ebonstone reacted when it was faced with other forms of Mana. It absorbed, dispersed, and nullified.
But what Theron should have realized earlier was that the method through which Ebonstone reacted with other forms of Dark Mana wasn't the same.
Back when Theron was trapped within Sadie's coffin, he had managed to use Ebonstone not as a nullifier, but an amplifier, essentially overloading the coffin and breaking it to allow him free. Without Ebonstone, he wouldn't have had the strength to break out of that coffin in the first place.
