Amelia was the first to impose a rule.

"No one uses that designation from now on."

Kael nodded.

"Sixth."

Elion looked up from the instruments.

"That works."

"Are you sure it's only the sound?" Sylphie asked.

"No."

The scholar's answer came far too quickly to reassure anyone.

He moved another crystal needle closer to the closed page and watched the nearly invisible oscillations still passing across its surface.

"It could be an activation word. It could be an administrative reference. It could be that the project recognizes its own designation being used and automatically opens some kind of supervision channel. Or there may genuinely be something in Obrin capable of noticing when that identity is invoked."

Umbra tilted her head.

"You managed to offer four possibilities and none of them are good."

"That wasn't the objective."

"Then it was excellent."

Kael left the two of them to it and looked at Irelia.

"I want everything on Corven after he left Obrin."
