Chapter 662 - Everything That Was Rejected

The darkness lasted less than a second for Umbra.

For everyone else, it was complete.

Kael heard Seraphine move before any light returned, the sound of her boots sliding half a step toward the man who had barely managed to stand. Sylphie did the same from the other side, guided less by sight than by the flow of mana that still ran through the complex walls. The page from the First Archive remained open in Kael's hand and was the only thing that did not vanish completely in the dark; its inscriptions emitted a weak white glow, enough only to illuminate his own fingers and a small patch of floor in front of him.

"The memory field increased," Umbra said.

Her voice came from somewhere above.

Kael raised his head.

"Where are you?"

"On the ceiling."

"Why?"

"Because I can see better from here."

"You don't see with your eyes."

"Exactly."

Kael decided this was not the time.
