It had been a week since Eric arrived, and now he was headed back to Country G. The week passed faster than Ella expected, and now it was already time for Eric to say goodbye. She had cleared her entire afternoon schedule just so she could take him to the airport.
These past days had been some of the happiest she'd had in years. Eric had poured his heart into repairing their relationship. He'd hover around her, teasing, talking nonstop, always wanting to help her with chores, and insisting she taste every questionable meal he attempted.
She'd even almost ended up with food poisoning from one of his dishes, but somehow, that too had become a cherished memory. She smiled just thinking about it.
"I'm going to miss you, Dad," Ella said as the announcement for check-in echoed through the hall. She wrapped her arms around him tightly.
