Chapter 3: First Try!
"Well, I'd be damned." Ken couldn't say anything after seeing the benefits providence could offer. Whatever he wanted or might want was already there, only needing time and for him to use what he gets well enough to do whatever he or whoever chose him wanted him to do.
"If I am to refuse such a thing, then I surely am dumb." Ken smiled.
He was pleased with what he got, more than pleased.
"Let's test this out." Since he could use them, why not do so now?
'Hmm, how do I call this? [Provide Status]?' He wanted to shout out loud, but just thinking about it did the trick.
[<----------Status---------->]
[<---------------------------->]
"Hmm." Ken took his time to study his status, taking as much information out of it as he could.
"This body's age is about the same as mine, and lifespan? Is it something I can increase in this life? In tropes like this, this doesn't seem impossible." Ken spoke.
"How many races are there in this world? It doesn't seem dominated by humans." Ken started thinking.
"There should be other races like demons, and from this body's memories, the kingdom he hailed from has a lot of beastmen as slaves, but demons are more like myths than reality." Ken nodded to himself; the mortal world seemed to have a mild detachment from the supernatural one.
Facts and myths could never be separated from one another until one truly saw them.
"So I have an element, and out of all I could have, it's Death, huh? It seems pretty powerful; I should see how I can get some skills for it." He did remember that this sect has skills for those who had elemental roots, though he himself didn't have an element-aligned root; now he could check for some death-related skills.
"Let's see, this started again. I saw it earlier but I don't quite understand what it could mean. It probably has to do with the realm of power, but I'm lacking information."
"Spirit Path..."
"Does this imply that there is more than just this path? Normally it should be something like the cultivation realm..."
"Whatever, moving on. Skills are self-explanatory, but it seems that they're solely related to elements." Ken spoke. Until now, he didn't see any hint whatsoever that skills could be anything but element-related, so something like those RPG game skills would be more like a technique than a skill, supposing it's not element-related.
"It seems that the technique that led to my predecessor's doom is now being trained safely with Providence." Ken couldn't help but be surprised, as well as pleased. Being the cautious man he was, he would have moved to a safer technique or at least not touched it until he was confident enough.
But now it was trained safely for him. And whenever it jumped in ranks, or the day came to an end, he would gain the benefits of its idle training.
However, idle training's benefits came in the form of knowledge and mastery, not direct effects.
So by the end of the day, he would have probably trained it enough to know what went wrong with his predecessor and, in turn, be able to train the technique himself to gain the benefits.
This Spirit Forging technique wasn't a normal technique; in fact, it was probably something that was made by someone who wanted to take a not-so-popular path rather than the spirit one, because it focused more on strengthening the body.
One would use spiritual energy, an ambient energy that is ever present in the world, to forge their body.
For Ken, who was currently only in the first realm of qi refining, the only energy he could use was the one in the air, as he could not afford to use the energy in his body just yet.
Nonetheless, it was a good technique, one that indeed promised fast growth in a short amount of time and gave an edge over cultivators who had just started their journey.
"I wonder how this works; let's see [Provide Idle Training]." Ken called and the next second his mind wandered off, appearing in a different space. There, he had an omniscient view, able to see a shadow-like figure training the very technique that had killed the previous Ken.
"So that's how it is." Ken nodded to himself.
Alongside the view, he could also see a panel floating.
