But how?
Aurora's thoughts continued racing.
Perhaps he had died accidentally. Or perhaps his death had been connected to his search for his daughter.
Maybe he had eventually received information that his daughter had died long ago and could not bear the blow.
Aurora fell silent. 'Why can't I come up with a logical explanation?'
She was still thinking when Mason's voice interrupted her.
"Leave, little girl. I am not interested in curing anyone."
Aurora looked toward him.
"Even though Iviana subtly hinted to me that I should help you, I can at most extend your sister's life. I do not want to become involved in medicine anymore."
His fingers tightened slightly against his knees.
"Medicine has become more of a curse than a blessing to me. It has never brought me anything good."
His eyes were filled with mockery as he stared at the ground.
For a moment, he looked like a man who had completely lost his soul.
Perhaps he was remembering the day he had watched Iviana leave.
