Mikey stops his bike at the bottom of the stairs to the shrine. You look up the stairs and slowly get off the bike. Mikey parks his bike to the side and walks up the stairs, motioning you to follow him. You follow behind him.
"Remember the first time we were here." He laughs. You furrow your eyebrows and sigh a bit. He laughs more. "Were you scared that day?" He asks. You look down at the steps while walking up them.
"I don't know... I don't know if I was more scared for my friends or-" You furrow your eyebrows trying to remember. You both make it to the top of the stairs.
"YUKI!" Peh-yan shouts. You look to see everyone. Mitsuya is smiling at you. Draken is standing beside him. Draken is wearing the bear with the orange heart keychain on his jacket. Baji is standing beside Chifuyu. And Hakkai is standing on the other side of Mitsuya. You smile at all of them. Mikey leads you to them.
"Augh... If I knew you were leaving I would of asked to hang out with you more." Hakkai sighs. You slightly smile. "You okay though?" He asks.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean... you're going so far... aren't you sad?" He asks.
"Yeah... Kinda..." You softly say. Everyone looks at you. Mikey leans towards you.
"Then you should stay..." Mikey softly says. You slowly look at him, furrowing your eyebrows.
"I'm still going to go." You sigh. Mikey sighs and then smiles.
"So why did you guys want to have the party here?" You ask.
"Oh- it's not going to be here." Chifuyu replies. Baji smacks Chifuyu in the back of his head. You look at the two of them confused. Mitsuya smiles and laughs awkwardly.
"We wanted to do something here first... then we plan on going somewhere to get some hot pot."
"Oooo... hot pot- sounds yummy." You bubble. Mitsuya smiles.
All of you gather around a tree. You stand still, confused to why you all are standing there.
"Sooo..."
"I wanted to do a time capsule." Baji implies.
"A time capsule?" You question. Baji nods. "To remember Toman... and everyone involved... so I told everyone to bring something... and then, I have some paper so that we can all write to our future selves."
"... to bring something?" You look at Baji confused.
"..." Baji looks at you confused.
"I'm guessing Mikey forgot to tell you." Mitsuya awkwardly chuckles.
"Oh- right... heheh" Mikey stands still. You slowly look at Mikey who smiles at you. Baji sighs and shakes his head.
"Whatever... you don't have to put something in there... it would have been nice if you did but it's alright. Writing the letter to yourself is the more important part." Baji says handing you a paper. "Just write what you want, put your name on it and then put it in the box. You nod as Chifuyu hands you a pencil. You walk to a spot where there is a hard enough surface.
What should you write to your future self?
After a few minutes of writing you place the paper in the envelope and write your name on the envelope. Mikey sits beside you and leans towards you, looking at the envelope.
"What did you write down?" Mikey asks. You look at him and then softly smile.
"I'm not telling you." You laugh. Mikey sighs and then smiles.
"I'm sorry for not telling you to bring something... and to be honest- I didn't bring anything either... I kinda forgot." He awkwardly chuckles.
"It's okay." You pause and then pull out the bear keychains from your pocket. "Actually... I think I have something to put inside.
"What are those?" Mikey asks. "Oh wait... Draken has two of those."
"Emma gave these to me."
"Oh."
You smile and stand up. Baji places something in the box and you place a few things in the box too. Baji looks at you in confusion.
"I thought you didn't have anything..." Baji calmly says.
"I didn't but then I remembered I had those in my pocket."
"Mm." Baji looks around at the others. "Are yall done? I'm hungry and ready to leave."
"Yeah." Mitsuya says standing up.
"Just about done." Draken waves his hand while still writing.
After everyone finishes writing and placing it in the box. Draken and Baji buries the box.
"When do we open the box?" Peh-yan asks.
"...mmm say- ten years from now... on this same day." Baji replies.
"Alright." Draken nods.
"Let's get food." Peh-yan says, turning away. Everyone else turns towards the stairs too. You follow behind them then stop when you notice Mikey not coming. You turn around to see Mikey staring down at the spot Baji and Draken buried the time capsule. You furrow your eyebrows a bit.
Is he frowning?
"You okay?" You softly ask. Mikey looks at you and then smiles.
"Yeah- let's go eat." He says, walking towards you. You slightly smile.
The day went on long. It was fun and you ate well. But night came and the party came to an end too. You all stand outside preparing to leave.
"So... this is it." Mitsuya says, smiling at you in a sad way.
"Don't be sad." You say.
"I know- it's just..." He sighs and the smiles again. "I'll miss you..."
"I'll be back in a year."
"You better!" Peh-yah shouts. "Pah-chin didn't get to meet you correctly and he's been saying he wants to..."
"Really?" You ask in shock. Mitsuya smiles and nods.
"Oddly enough... yes." Mitsuya softly chuckles. "He said you sound interesting and wanted to get to know why there's so much hype when it came to you."
"Ah.. okay." You nod. Mitsuya holds his arms out and hugs you.
"Be safe, okay?"
"Okay."
"Oh and- Yuki." Hakkai waves at you. You look towards him. "Yuzuha says to have fun! And when you come back she wants you to come visit her. She misses you." He smiles. You nod and smile back.
You wave as Mitsuya, Hakkai and Peh-yan drive off.
"Alright... Imma go to the hospital to see Emma." Draken calmly says. "I most likely won't be able to see you tomorrow so.." Draken hugs you. "Bye Yuki-"
"Bye Draken." You hug him back. He gets on his bike and drives off.
"Partner" You turn your head to see Chifuyu. He smiles at you. You smile back at him. He hugs you tightly. He pulls away and smirks at you a bit. "Remember... if you ever need a partner in crime-"
"I'll come find you." You interrupt.
"Yeah." He smiles and nods. "Don't forget me- okay!"
"I won't" Chifuyu stands by Baji's bike. Baji stares at you, a sad look in his face. Then he slowly looks at Mikey who is standing beside you. Baji takes a deep breath.
"See you later... Yuki."
"See you later Baji." You smile. He slightly smiles back.
Chifuyu and Baji get on the bike and drive off.
You stand still beside Mikey. Mikey looks at you and you look at him.
"Wanna go on one last ride?" He asks. You nod. He gets on his bike and you get on behind him. You hold onto him as he drives off. You look around you as the breeze hits your face. You smile and take in the fresh air. You won't be able to do this anymore when you leave. This will be the last time for a while. You close your eyes and hold onto Mikey tighter. He smiles when you do.
He stops his bike by the beach. There was no one out. It makes sense since it's kinda chilly and it's dark.
"Why did we stop here?" You softly ask.
"I wanted to stay here with you for a bit... since this will be the last time-... for a while." Mikey softly smiles. You slowly nod. He gets off his, helping you off. The two of you walk to the beach. Mikey sits down on the sand, and you sit down beside him. The both of you stare off into the distance.
"Can I be honest with you..." Mikey softly asks. You look at him and he looks at you. You slowly nod. "I never really cared about girls like that- Emma used to hate the way I thought... saying I often turn a blind eye to females... or objectify them."
"Did you?" You ask.
"No- I didn't really care about them... I didn't care about anyone that wasn't special to me honestly. When I first met you, you kinda piqued my interest... but I didn't think that I would end up having some sort of deep feeling towards you. I never felt so much love for a woman who wasn't my family." He has a soft look on his face. "I really love you Yuki..."
"..." You look at him with wide eyes. He smiles and lays his head on your lap.
"I feel at peace when I'm with you... I wish you can stay forever..." He softly says.
"Mikey."
"Hm?"
"Here..." You pull the bracelet out of your pocket and reach for his hand, placing the bracelet on his wrist. "This bracelet is meant to consume all the negative energy you feel... It's meant to protect you and keep your mind at ease."
"..."
"This should help you at least... while I'm gone... and if you need more support, you have your friends." You slowly rub his head. "I won't be gone for too long... I promise- it will only be just a year."
"... Yuki..."
"Hm?"
"Please stay with me until sunrise."
"Sure."
Mikey smiles and closes his eyes. You stare off into the distance watching the water move.
Hours pass and the sun starts to rise. You open your eyes and look out towards the sky. You slowly sit up, rubbing your eyes. Your eyes widen when the sky fills with color. You turn to look at Mikey who is still asleep. You relax your eyes and look back out towards the sky, not wanting to wake him up. You watch as the sun rises fully. You take a deep breath, looking back at Mikey. You smile and kiss him on the cheek.
"I love you too Mikey." You softly say. You take off your jacket and place it on him, covering him. You slowly stand up and walk off, heading to your grandma's house.
Mikey opens his eyes and stares off in front of him with a blank but sad expression on his face.
You stop at your grandma's house, gently knocking on the door. The door opens and Hikari lets you in.
"Hey... I'm surprised you came back- I thought you ran away or something." Hikari awkwardly laughs.
"What makes you say that?" You ask, looking at her in confusion.
"Cause... you never came home last night like you said you were..." She sighs. "Also- why is there sand in your hair?" She asks. You move away from her, walking into the house.
"Where is grandma...?" You ask.
"In the living room with Izana..." Hikari answers.
"Izana?" You look back at Hikari in shock. You quickly walk into the living room to see your grandmother showing Izana a notebook. Izana is sitting in a wheelchair and is smiling as your grandma talks to him.
"Izana..." You softly say. Izana slowly looks up and smiles at you.
