Chapter 89 - Cordayl vs. The World Part 2

The Grim Reaper floats up to Cordayl. Kneeling, he touches Cordayl's chest.

Now, on the soul plain, Cordayl sits up and is face to face with the GR. "You actually came to pick me up? Did you bring something to drink with you?"

The GR smirks, "Next time. Lucky for you, this isn't the end of the road."

"Sure feels like it. I mean I can see my dead body right here. And I can see their smug ass faces even as they walk away." Cordayl seethes in anger. "I didn't even intend to try to win this war. But now!"

"So how about a round 2?" The GR asks.

"Haunt them?" Cordayl ask.

"Nah, I hate that petty crap. Remember the last time we met and we shook hands?" GR ask.

"Yeah, what about it?" Cordayl responds.

"Well, I had a feeling that little bastard might get you because you weren't "warmed up." So I gave you enough of my power to negate all of his. It should kick in soon. It's just enough to give your heart a jump. But-".

"I know, I know. Don't worry, I'm wide awake now." Cordayl smirks.

The GR winks at Cordayl. Turning away, Cordayl stops him before he gets too far.

"Why are you rooting for me to defeat your son?"

The GR removes and cleans his shades as he looks at the sun. "I've watched this earth grow since life started. In all my time here, I've never once gotten bored of its beauty.

"Every now and then, there will be a soul that arrives and brings forth destruction and chaos on a bigger scale then the last but the world always bounces back. That child of mine hates me as much as I hate him, and if he could, he would burn this world to the ground just to see me shed a tear.

"I can't do anything to stop him, but that doesn't mean I won't cheer for the ones who will try. And right now, that is you. The most powerful men on the continent have already cowered and kissed his ass. You're the only one left to kick it." The GR smiles at him.

Cordayl nods his head. "You know, I'm having a child soon. And it's only now that I realized a dangerous life with me would be better than whatever world Napoleon envisions."

"Agreed. Take care, Cordayl. I don't plan on seeing you again any time soon." The Gr says, walking away.

The GR walks past Napoleon, but when Napoleon sees he is walking by himself, Napoleon stops in his tracks.

A look of worry crosses his face as he turns back around to see Cordayl still on the ground, lifeless.

Cordayl lay there when suddenly, the energy the GR gave him courses through his body and rests above his heart. With a violent pound, Cordayl's entire chest leaves the ground.

The army turns around and watches with Napoleon to see what caused such a loud thump.

Another beat lifts Cordayl again. As his heart starts to beat, Cordayl's body begins to levitate.

"Fine. If that's how you want to play it, old man." Napoleon chuckles as he rolls his sleeves back up.

Now elevated above the clouds, the color of Cordayl's eyes return and he breathes again. Continuing to look up into the sky, "Well what are the odds of that?" He smirks, reaching out his hand.

Regaining complete consciousness, Cordayl stands upright in the air and descends back to the earth, ready for round 2.

The army has already surrounded him as he tries to land in the center. Giving them no chance, he drops the full might of his gravity on the entire kingdom, crushing everyone beneath him instantly.

The pressure is so much the screen is shaking as one after the other, soldiers and warriors pass out due to the immense weight dropped upon them.

Cordayl stares Napoleon in the eyes, as eventually even he is dropped down to his knees before Cordayl.

Then, the weight disappears completely. Napoleon stands up, breathing hard, and eventually, only the strongest warriors stand back up to their feet.

Cordayl lands and looks at the remaining army. Thousands reduced to less than 200 in mere seconds. Still showing their fighting spirits, Cordayl rewards them with a warning.

"Which of you can tell me what is different from a few minutes ago?"

"You're alive, obviously," Napoleon states.

"Yes. But even more than that. Have none of you noticed that the clouds have parted?." Cordayl points.

Every warrior looks up, and the color drains from their faces the moment they do.

Any fighting spirit left immediately evaporates, and they all look in despair as they notice a mountain descending upon them.

Even Napoleon is shocked to see such a sight. "You have brought a meteor upon us. You truly are a devil."

"Its just a mountain. I can only take half the credit because I had no idea it would end up over here. Lucky break. For me." Cordayl says.

"I give you all the option to admit defeat, pick up your comrades, and escape with your lives. Renounce your loyalty to Napoleon now and live on knowing that one man beat the world." Cordayl shouts.

"Bullshit! They will fight for as long as I am stand-" Napoleon's words are cut off as Cordayl rockets him into the air, gluing him to the falling mountain.

With their leader out of the picture, Cordayl returns his attention to them. "So what's it gonna be?"

The warriors look at each other, and with hesitation, they all start waking and picking up their comrades to retreat.

As the soldiers all retreat, Cordayl closes his eyes and focuses his power to slow the mountain's descent as much as possible, giving them time to escape the area.

Napoleon grits his teeth and, with all his might, he rockets off the mountain's bottom and propels himself back to the earth with a roar.

Cordayl hits him with the full force of his power, and Napoleon is sent crashing back into the stone, stuck.

Cordayl starts to sweat, holding up the mountain, but he doesn't let it fall until he is sure that every warrior is a safe distance away.

Releasing the mountain, Cordayl relaxes his stance and takes a deep breath. Eyes still closed, Cordayl focuses and pulls the gravity from the earth's core into the palm of his hand.

"Ancestor's desire. Freedom." He says, harnessing all the energy into one now tightly squeezed fist.

The mountain descends closer and closer into the earth, and Napoleon is too exhausted to move a muscle as he falls closer and closer to Cordayl.

"So that's it, Cordayl? You plan to bury us both? So be it." Napoleon weakly smirks.

Napoleon falls closer and closer, but it isn't till he is mere feet away that he sees Cordayl in his stance, eyes locked on to him. Napoleon grimaces and roars in rage at his defeat.

Cordayl roars in celebration of his victory, as he punches Napoleon right in the abdomen. The power in his fist travels through the entire mountain, causing an explosion as it splits in two.

As the dust clears, Cordayl collapses in the mountain's gap, exhausted. Napoleon's body is split in half, dead and defeated. Cordayl turns his head when he notices a light.

Looking over, he sees the GR kneeling down and picking up Napoleon's soul. His soul is in the form of a crying child, and the GR picks him up and comforts the sobbing child as he walks away.

The hero flies up to the mountain's peak. Witnessing the whole thing from afar, he couldn't believe what he just saw.

A mountain split in two with a single strike. Truly an unrivaled feat.

Flying over the mountain, he stops when he is above the split. The gap Cordayl left between the two massive stones is incredible.

The hero starts to descend into the split, as he has to know once and for all if this is truly all over.

Floating down to the ground, the hero walks through the man-made path and stops dead in his tracks when he sees Cordayl covered in blood.

Looking down at him, the hero hates that Diablo has won his admiration. Then, he wins his praise as the hero notices that Cordayl is still alive.

Picking him up, the hero flies out of the mountain. "You may deserve death, but I will see to it you at least have a fair trial before it is decided, " he states as he flies away.
