Miller Estate
The moon was already high in the sky when Sienna-Rose returned to her estate; she and Thessaly had come back by the portal. Lanterns still burned along the courtyard, casting a golden haze across the misty garden. Thessaly trailed behind her, silent but smiling, her silver hair catching the moonlight like spun glass.
"I'll stay here tonight," Thessaly said as they entered the main hall. "I need to crash immediately."
Sienna-Rose gave a small nod, too tired to argue. "I'll have the servants escort you."
But Thessaly didn't get that far. A soft knock echoed at the estate front door before she could even set her bag down. When the servant open the estate door. The new Baroness, Emily, stood there, wind-tossed hair, night cloak still damp with dew, and worry flickering in her eyes.
"I came to pick her up," Emily said simply, her tone caught somewhere between fondness and embarrassment.
