Chapter 27 - 27. Where Does The Thunder Come From?

"Crackle~~~"

"Boom!!!"

A loud noise suddenly rang out, instantly drawing the attention of Eddie, who had been thinking about what Pokémon to catch.

"Is this lightning? Hey, hey, hey, it's still noon, the sky is clear, and the sun is shining. How could there be a bolt from the blue?"

Eddie glanced out the window. The lightning appeared just once in the distance and quickly dissipated.

"There shouldn't be any lightning in this weather, so the only possibility is that it was caused by an Electric-type Pokémon. But are there any Electric-types nearby?"

Eddie closed the panel and walked toward the window to see what was going on. Before he turned off the panel, he first activated the Exp. Share, which was usually left on permanently.

"That direction is the outskirts of Pewter City, near Viridian Forest, the place I just passed by."

He paused, thinking. "I don't remember there being any Electric-types in Viridian Forest. Or did I miss them before?"

Curious, Eddie decided to investigate.

Whether the Electric-type was wild or a trainer's Pokémon, he wanted to see what was going on.

After all, from the lightning just now, it seemed like the Electric-type was pretty strong.

"If it's a wild Pokémon, I'll catch it. If it's a trainer's, then I'll battle it. If it's a trainer's Pokémon, it should be strong, and there could be a good reward for winning."

"Let's go."

Eddie saw that Charmeleon and Frogadier had eaten their fill, and both were fully recovered.

After eating, they both looked at him. "After eating, go back to your Poké Balls and rest. There are two more battles ahead."

Eddie picked up the Poké Balls and recalled Charmeleon and Frogadier.

He wanted to give his Pokémon as much rest as possible.

They had just fought hard in Viridian Forest.

A Charmander spat out a ember attack at a Bulbasaur, but Bulbasaur wasn't afraid. It kept running and jumping to avoid the attack.

While evading, the seeds on Bulbasaur's back began to stockpile quickly.

Since the weather was sunny, Bulbasaur's stockpiling rate was accelerated.

After a few seconds, a beam of light with terrifying force shot out from the seeds on its back and struck Charmander.

Charmander responded with a Flamethrower, and the two Pokémon continued to bombard each other.

This was the scene Eddie saw when he reached the outskirts of Pewter City.

"Charmander's Flamethrower and Bulbasaur's Solar Beam are clashing."

Eddie's mouth twitched as he watched.

The scene before him was beyond his imagination.

Not only was one using a Fire-type Flamethrower and the other a Grass-type Solar Beam, but they were evenly matched. This could be explained by the fact that Solar Beam is indeed stronger than Flamethrower.

But it was a bit too much for them to be using such moves. Could they even learn them at this stage?

Charmander does know Flamethrower, but that's when it reaches level 36. By then, it should have evolved into Charizard, unless it learned it using a TM. The same is for Bulbasaur.

Of course, if Charmander and Bulbasaur wanted to learn these moves, there was another way—training. However, this method takes so long that by the time they've learned the moves, players of the same level are usually 5 levels higher than you.

However, here it was said that only regular people and players had to spend so much time training to learn moves, but no matter the world, there are always talented individuals and geniuses—Trainers who can make their Pokémon learn moves in a short amount of time.

"So, it turns out that these two are geniuses. They're already this strong at this level. It's fate to meet them here. Let me check the level and potential of these two Pokémon first."

Eddie was still in shock but then turned his attention to the Trainers of Charmander and Bulbasaur. He quickly understood the situation and took out his Pokédex, eager to check the information of these two remarkable Pokémon.

Level: 20 (Intermediate)

"…I thought my Starter Pokémon was already strong with its Quasi-Elite potential Charmander. It took me a lot of effort to raise it to Champion potential, but seeing these two, I have to admit defeat. I have to admire them."

Eddie took a deep breath. He didn't even bother complaining about why they hadn't evolved yet. He just looked at their potential and felt a little speechless.

He compared himself to other players. While other players had an Pokémon with Peak or less potential, he was proud of his Charmander with Quasi-Elite potential.

After a lot of hard work, he finally trained his Charmander with Quasi-Elite potential to Champion potential. He had believed that his Starter Pokémon was the best.

But here, these two Trainers had Pokémon with Champion potential from the start. The gap was so large it felt unreal.

Just as Eddie was doubting his life choices, Charmander and Bulbasaur seemed to reach the most critical moment of the battle. They roared, unleashing their power as they attacked each other.

"Bang!"

With a loud explosion, both Pokémon were blasted away by the collision of their energy.

"They're evenly matched, but strictly speaking, Charmander should be considered the loser. It's two levels higher than Bulbasaur, and its type also has the advantage over Bulbasaur. Since it was a tie, it's technically a loss for Charmander."

Eddie watched as the two Trainers argued over the tie between their Pokémon.

After thinking for a few seconds, he decided to walk over.
