Eddie and his Mega Lucario looked almost unscathed, completely unaware that they had been the ones attacking the massive Snorlax. They stared at the seemingly oblivious Snorlax with bewildered expressions. Even though they knew the Snorlax was genuinely confused and not mocking them, they still felt a surge of frustration rising in their hearts.
"It's definitely feeling pain now," Eddie observed, his eyes narrowing as he analyzed the situation. "Although it recovered quickly, your attack still managed to hurt it, which clearly exceeded its natural recovery speed. Keep going with the assault."
Eddie frowned deeply, looking at the Snorlax with obvious displeasure, and commanded his Mega Lucario to continue the offensive. Mega Lucario didn't respond verbally, but the Focus Blast forming in its paws continued to target the massive Normal-type Pokemon.
"Ha~" Snorlax made a confused sound as it watched Mega Lucario continue launching attacks at it. Only then did it finally realize that it was actually being attacked, rather than just being bothered by some annoying mosquito. As Mega Lucario's relentless assault continued, the sleeping Pokemon finally began to make sounds of genuine pain.
Snorlax's special defense was naturally high, but Focus Blast was an incredibly powerful Fighting-type move. Combined with Mega Lucario's enhanced ability and attack power, plus the move's additional effect of reducing the target's special defense with each hit, the damage was steadily accumulating. Snorlax finally understood that it was being seriously injured.
Even though its injuries were slowly healing thanks to the effects of whatever item it was holding, it still couldn't completely resist Mega Lucario's powerful attacks. From Snorlax's perspective, it had been resting peacefully and hadn't done anything to offend anyone. It was suddenly awakened by Eddie's Poke Flute, and then immediately subjected to a continuous barrage of attacks while already feeling pain.
"Ha!!" Snorlax roared, feeling completely wronged by the situation. It first adopted a very determined expression, then suddenly jumped up and pressed its massive body toward Eddie and his Mega Lucario.
"First, it used Amnesia to boost its special defense, and then followed up with Body Slam to attack," Eddie noted with grudging respect. "This Snorlax is obviously not as stupid as it appears."
Eddie and his Mega Lucario naturally wouldn't be hit so easily by such a predictable attack. Both trainer and Pokemon quickly dispersed in different directions, while Eddie continued to analyze Snorlax's battle patterns and capabilities. However, Eddie seemed to have forgotten one crucial detail about their current battlefield.
They were fighting on the Silent Bridge, and Snorlax was attacking with a full-power Body Slam. Snorlax's impressive 460-kilogram body had been lying quietly on the bridge without any problems - the structure could support its weight when stationary. But now it was launching itself with the full force of a Body Slam attack.
"Oh no, this is bad!" Eddie exclaimed after successfully avoiding the attack. He looked at Snorlax pressing down hard against the bridge with its enormous bulk and let out a sigh that suggested he had been expecting this outcome. Without hesitation, he released his Charizard and quickly climbed onto the Fire-type's back.
Just as Eddie had predicted, the Silent Bridge made an ominous cracking sound under the tremendous impact of Snorlax's attack. Then, almost immediately, an entire section of the bridge was completely crushed under the massive Pokemon's weight.
"Hey, this Snorlax is the one that did it, not me," Eddie declared shamelessly, despite being the one who had initiated the entire battle. "If anyone wants compensation for the damage, they should go find Snorlax. Charizard and Lucario, you'll have to testify for me when the time comes."
Both Charizard and Lucario rolled their eyes at their trainer's shameless attempt to avoid responsibility.
"Eddie, if you end up catching this Snorlax, I'll personally ask you for compensation as well," Mega Lucario said with complete sincerity, making it clear that Eddie wouldn't be able to escape accountability.
"Ahem, actually, the destruction of this section of the bridge was also caused by the aftermath of that Dragon Pulse from earlier," Eddie tried to argue weakly. "Anyway, it's not really our business."
"Mega Lucario, you're still in the middle of a battle - don't get distracted!" Eddie quickly changed the subject when he saw his upright Lucario looking like it wanted to continue the conversation about responsibility. "While Snorlax is still moving slowly after that attack, hit it with an Aura Sphere!"
When it came to battling, Mega Lucario's focus immediately returned to the fight. Seeing Snorlax apparently stuck in place after crushing part of the bridge, it fired a perfectly aimed Aura Sphere. However, when the attack connected with Snorlax, it made another amusing 'thud' sound rather than causing any visible damage.
"I see - that Amnesia from earlier directly increased its special defense by a significant amount, and this time the Aura Sphere isn't dealing damage faster than its natural recovery rate," Eddie analyzed.
"In that case, let's switch to physical attacks. Use Power-Up Punch!" Eddie immediately changed his strategy and ordered Lucario to use a different type of move.
Power-Up Punch was a Fighting-type move with only 40 base power, but it had a 100% chance to increase the user's attack stat by one stage with each successful hit. The move wasn't particularly powerful on its own, but if used continuously, the accumulated attack boosts would make later attacks devastatingly powerful.
"Understood! Let me see how long it can withstand my attacks!" Mega Lucario grasped Eddie's tactical intention immediately. It quickly approached the trapped Snorlax and began landing punches on the same spot on its abdomen where it had been focusing its previous attacks. Each successful hit would increase Mega Lucario's attack power, making the next punch even stronger.
"Ha!!" Snorlax cried out in pain once again. Determined not to remain a sitting target any longer, it opened its massive jaws and used Crunch to bite through whatever was keeping it stuck. Within moments, it had freed itself from the debris and regained its mobility.
Facing the Mega Lucario that was still persistently attacking its abdomen, Snorlax finally showed a truly angry expression and let out a furious roar.
If Snorlax could speak human language, it would probably be saying something like: "I was resting peacefully! You're the one who woke me up, and now you keep attacking me! Do you think I'm easy to bully?!"
Then it charged directly toward Mega Lucario with obvious intent to cause serious damage. Eddie couldn't tell if the move was High Horsepower or Heavy Slam, but regardless of which attack it was, Mega Lucario definitely wouldn't feel good if it connected.
Snorlax was naturally slow due to its enormous body and substantial weight. However, at the same time, because of that same massive size, it could still potentially hit its target even if its movements were somewhat sluggish. The sheer area it covered made it difficult to avoid completely.
"No matter which move that is, you need to defend against it, but it looks nearly impossible to dodge completely. Mega Lucario, use Protect!" Eddie quickly assessed that Snorlax's body was simply too large. Even if Mega Lucario managed to avoid most of the attack, it would likely still be caught by the aftermath or edge of the assault. Making a split-second decision, he called for the ultimate defensive move.
Hearing the command, Mega Lucario immediately stopped its offensive and channeled its energy into defense. A pale white protective barrier materialized around it just in time. At that exact moment, Snorlax's charging attack arrived, striking the energy shield directly and sending both the barrier and Mega Lucario flying backward through the air.
While Protect could prevent Mega Lucario from taking any actual damage, it couldn't prevent the Pokemon from being knocked back by the sheer force of the impact. Unfortunately, Snorlax's powerful move didn't just send Mega Lucario flying - it also completely destroyed what remained of this section of the Silent Bridge.
Originally, only a certain portion had been crushed and damaged, but now the entire section was thoroughly demolished. Looking at the Silent Bridge broken and collapsed like something from a disaster movie, Eddie couldn't help but fall into deep, troubled thought.
"Hmm, if I actually succeed in catching this Snorlax, and someone comes asking for compensation later, exactly how much am I going to have to pay?" he wondered aloud, already dreading the potential financial consequences of this impromptu battle.
