In a suburb of Rainbow City, Team Rocket forces faced off against Eddie and his allies in a tense standoff.
Team Rocket possessed superior numbers in both personnel and Pokemon.
However, most of their Pokemon were Advance-level strength, with some even being Intermediate-level, creating a wide variation in combat capabilities.
They had seven Peak-level trainers, including the division captain, with each trainer commanding approximately two Peak-level Pokemon.
But the combined Peak-level Pokemon of these operatives amounted to only twice Eddie's personal roster, and the quality gap was immediately apparent.
Team Rocket's forces consisted of fifteen Peak-level Pokemon, over forty Advanced-level Pokemon, more than twenty-five Intermediate-level Pokemon, totaling over eighty Pokemon in their battle formation.
Eddie's team, including Green's Blastoise, Clefairy, and Jigglypuff, comprised eight Peak-level Pokemon and three Advanced-level Pokemon, for a total of eleven Pokemon.
As for Mew, it remained adorably neutral unless a truly critical moment arose.
"Morning Sun! I acknowledge your strength, but you currently possess only these few Pokemon - you cannot defeat so many of our forces! I advise you to surrender and hand over the Mew beside you, and I will mercifully allow you to depart!" the division captain declared.
Facing Eddie's impressive lineup, the division captain felt uncertain internally. After all, Eddie had severely injured Koga in previous encounters.
Fortunately, only he knew about this incident while other team members remained unaware, so he couldn't show weakness. He needed to project confidence so his subordinates could gradually wear down Eddie's Pokemon through sustained combat.
"Show me mercy? Pfft... hahahaha!" Eddie was initially stunned, then burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Everyone present, including Mew, stared at Eddie because his laughter was genuinely quite loud and attention-grabbing.
Despite Eddie simply laughing, everyone could sense the disdain, confidence, and slight anger underlying his amusement!
"The three Executives of your Team Rocket wouldn't dare speak such words to me. Who gave you the courage to say that?" Eddie stopped laughing, then retrieved a glove and slowly put it on.
"I came to Rainbow City with many objectives, and one of them is to completely flatten your Team Rocket branch here..."
"To flatten it completely."
Eddie spoke those final words very softly, but everyone present felt a deep chill and involuntarily shuddered.
But the intimidation wasn't finished yet. The moment Eddie completed his statement, Charizard, Greninja, Sceptile, and Lucario on the battlefield all began emitting brilliant light.
"It's unfortunate that Gabite and Pupitar haven't evolved to their final forms yet, otherwise an entire group of Pokemon would have mega evolved simultaneously," Eddie observed with slight dissatisfaction while everyone else remained shocked.
"As for Haunter, there's no Mega Evolution stone available currently, so it can't mega evolve even after evolving into Gengar."
"Why can these fully evolved Pokemon evolve again? What's happening here?!" the division captain demanded, apparently having never witnessed the mega evolution capabilities of the three Executives' Pokemon.
Whether he was confused or not was irrelevant to Eddie. What Eddie needed to accomplish now was simply defeating the Team Rocket forces before him.
The mega evolution process concluded quickly. Even at dusk, intense sunlight began shining over the entire area.
This was the Drought ability of Mega Charizard Y. Eddie had chosen the Y mega evolution to maximize his overall combat effectiveness.
Mega Charizard Y, Mega Sceptile, Mega Lucario, and Bond-evolved Greninja stood prominently among their opponents.
Although they remained technically Peak-level, their actual combat capabilities could now challenge Gym Leader-level Pokemon.
The Bond-evolved Greninja was particularly impressive. After gaining its secondary ability, its body had transformed into a pitch-black form that was already quite handsome. Now wrapped in swirling water vortexes, it appeared even more mysterious and powerful.
When the water vortex dispersed, a red six-pointed star appeared on its head, though the two vertical points were elongated, and a large X-shaped Water Shuriken manifested on its back.
The aura it projected was not only equal to other mega evolved Pokemon, but actually seemed slightly stronger.
Green observed this magnificent and powerful Greninja, then looked at her own Blastoise and shook her head.
Obviously, she understood that even though they were both Water-type starters, significant differences existed between them.
"Alright, enough talk. Let's begin the battle!" Eddie declared.
While everyone else remained surprised by the transformations, Eddie felt completely prepared and launched the first attack.
Mega Charizard Y fired a Fire Blast directly at the opposing forces. Under the effect of the Drought ability, even at dusk, the power of Fire-type moves was dramatically enhanced.
Just one Fire Blast directly knocked down six opposing Pokemon. Two Elite-level Pokemon were instantly critically injured, while four below Elite-level were immediately knocked unconscious and lost their ability to battle.
Mega Sceptile was particularly delighted because the Drought ability's effect created Sunny Day conditions, and Solar Beam could be used without charging time under these circumstances.
Consequently, while Team Rocket was completely unable to react, Mega Sceptile unleashed a concentrated beam of sunlight that blasted away six or seven Pokemon. This attack was incredibly powerful - every Pokemon hit, regardless of Elite status, lost their combat ability immediately.
Since Mega Lucario possessed fewer large-scale moves in its movepool, it directly coordinated with Pupitar and Gabite to use Earthquake.
Instantly, the entire area shook from the massive seismic activity, then terrible energy gathered beneath the ground. In a moment resembling an energy fountain from fighting games, the ground surged with devastating energy shockwaves!
At this point, not only Pokemon but many Team Rocket operatives were also knocked unconscious by the tremors. More than twenty Pokemon were struck by such overwhelming force alongside their trainers and were immediately defeated.
Greninja, for its part, directly grasped the enormous Water Shuriken from its back and swung it with tremendous force.
Because this weapon was so large, it could strike multiple Pokemon simultaneously. It directly hit twenty Pokemon, causing ten of the opponent's Pokemon to fall in defeat.
As for Haunter, its attack wasn't as violent or direct as the previous Pokemon, but the results weren't inferior to its teammates.
Understanding its strength limitations, it didn't rush into foolish direct combat. Instead, it concealed itself behind allies and used Hypnosis on enemy Pokemon individually, then followed up with Hex after successfully inducing sleep.
The first move put Pokemon into sleep status, while the second move caused dramatically increased damage to Pokemon suffering from status conditions.
Most of its targets were Pokemon already critically injured by Charizard and the others, so Haunter's combination attacks achieved one-hit knockouts consistently.
It truly lived up to being a Ghost-type Pokemon - its cunning sometimes exceeded human intelligence.
"Excellent results. My Pokemon are truly impressive. I haven't experienced the pleasure of such overwhelming victory in quite some time," Eddie said with satisfaction regarding the battle's progress.
Team Rocket had virtually no ability to retaliate effectively.
Even before Green's Blastoise could participate in combat, Eddie's seven Pokemon had already devastated the enemy forces completely.
"But if this guy joined the battle, I might be even happier," Eddie added, looking toward the side where his eighth Pokemon was positioned.
There lay Snorlax, who had been peacefully resting since being released...
