Chapter 393: Ino's Ambition
After the Sage of Six Paths passed away, the organization of the Ninja Creed was passed down to Ashura. As the ninja tools used by the Sage during his lifetime, they were naturally part of the inheritance.
And indeed, it was true.
Ashura knew the uses of these ninja tools very well; he had used them himself for many years.
The core principle of the Ninja Creed was to oppose Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. Whatever Kaguya supported and held sacred, her son, the Sage, would oppose.
The Ninja Creed did not advocate the use of personal force and did not approve of unconditional generosity.
And the result?
It seemed that both Hashirama Senju and Naruto had achieved remarkable success under the influence of the Ninja Creed's core ideology. But in reality, without immense power, who would have listened to them?
One can only become Hokage after being acknowledged by everyone? That statement isn't entirely accurate. It should be that a powerful individual who is acknowledged by everyone can become Hokage.
When Ashura heard Ino mention the Sage's ninja tools, he advised her according to the ideology of the Ninja Creed.
He hoped she would value the strength of her comrades and not lose herself in the power of the tools.
Ino's skill at spouting pleasantries had reached level 5. She immediately thanked the Sage of Six Paths, the Ninja Creed, and Konoha, then went on a tangent about her insights after learning the Ninja Creed's ideals of resolving disputes and eliminating injustice.
"No, these are not your thoughts, at least not entirely. I want to hear what you truly think."
When it came to ninja ideology, Ashura, for a rare moment, was not fooled. He turned the tables on her.
Ino was taken aback and fell into deep thought.
She figured her relationship with Ashura had likely reached a critical point. The Sage's tools were just a pretense; what Ashura really wanted to know were her true thoughts.
She couldn't give up her good relationship with Ashura. She racked her brain, and at the same time, asked herself, what do I really think?
"My thoughts are not yet mature."
"It doesn't matter. When I was your age, I knew nothing at all. Just say whatever comes to mind. At the very least, you must have a direction you're striving for, right?"
Striving to shift blame? Does striving to plant eyes count?
Ino thought quite seriously for a moment. "You can't laugh at me if I tell you."
"I won't laugh."
"Alright then. I've only ever told one friend, Hinata Hyuga, about this. I want to stop war with martial force." The more she spoke, the smoother it came out. "I firmly believe that at the end of the blissful hell, there must be light. When the clouds and mists dissipate, only the bright moon will remain in my heart."
Ashura carefully savored her words. "To pacify a chaotic world with force, to obtain light through slaughter? That seems to be Hashirama's way of thinking. Has the ninja world come full circle, back into the mire of war?"
"Yes..."
"Alright. I hope you can continue to walk your path. Let me tell you about the Sage's ninja tools."
Under Ashura's guidance, the Seven-Star Sword, one of the Sage's Treasured Tools she had obtained from Ginkaku's soul, was freed from its awkward state of only being able to sever word-souls. Now, the sword could be wielded by her Wood Golem!
The Seven-Star Sword could switch between a tangible and intangible state, much like Itachi Uchiha's ethereal Spirit Weapon, the Sword of Totsuka. The Seven-Star Sword could change its size; the 1.7-meter-tall Ino could use it, and when held by the Wood Golem, it could scale up proportionally, becoming a proper forty-meter-long greatsword.
Now, as a massive slab-like sword, without the Golden Canopy Rope and the Crimson Gourd, its ability to sever word-souls was unusable. However, it was still a decent weapon for cutting people down—at least it was sturdy and sharp enough.
There wasn't much to say about the Amber Purifying Pot. The sealing mechanism of this item was simply crude and straightforward.
In the original timeline, Darui had shouted "Kinkaku!" and Kinkaku, already half-transformed into his Tailed Beast state, was controlled by Ino's Mind-Body Switch Technique to answer in his stead, and was then sucked into the pot.
However, Kinkaku did struggle for a moment during the sealing process, which proved that the Amber Purifying Pot had an upper limit to its sealing power. It certainly couldn't seal someone like Kaguya Ōtsutsuki or the Ten-Tails.
When Ashura mentioned the Amber Purifying Pot, his tone was filled with reminiscence. "You call that thing a purifying pot now? Hahahaha, what a strange name!"
He continued, "I still remember, my older brother was always very mischievous as a child, yet he craved the attention of others. Whenever someone called his name, he would stand at attention and answer like a little adult. Mother passed away early, so Father took care of us when we were young... Father would bathe us, and my brother was unwilling. So, Father made this ninja tool. He would imitate different voices to call my brother's name, and as soon as my brother answered, he would be dragged in for a bath. Hahahaha—"
Ino: "..."
She should have known. Just by looking at the large character for "Dust" (尘) on the front of the pot, she should have realized this thing had no proper use.
The great Sage of Six Paths had made this thing simply to bathe his naughty son and wash away the dust.
And now it was being used as a sealing tool? Well, it wasn't out of the question...
Finally, Ashura spoke with a serious tone. "What you now call the purifying pot has the effects of suppression, conversion, and purification. Because of my brother, inside it... how should I put it?"
He frowned, trying to find the right words. Ino grew anxious just watching him.
"It should be said that it helps ninja with insufficient bloodlines to increase the concentration of their bloodline." Seemingly guessing Ino's thoughts, he quickly added, "You already have my brother's bloodline and mine, so you can't be enhanced by this tool. After all... that thing... that thing wasn't originally made for this purpose."
Returning to reality, Ino studied the Amber Purifying Pot.
Opening the lid, she saw it was more than half-full of black water. Now knowing its purpose, Ino felt a little disgusted. Good heavens, how much mud was washed off in here? Did Indra roll around in the mud every day as a child? Poor old Sage, to have a son like that.
If Sasuke knew his ancestor was such a character in his childhood, would he be mortified enough to end it all?
Of course, the black water wasn't mud. Indra wasn't that messy.
This was spirit water that the Sage of Six Paths had brought from Mount Myoboku to help his eldest son evolve in every aspect, from his spirit to his bloodline.
From a modern perspective, the Sharingan was cool, handsome, and had infinite potential.
But in the eyes of the Sage of Six Paths, the Sharingan was a mutation, and he disliked these eyes very much.
He hoped his eldest son would go further than himself, so he helped Indra purify his bloodline from a young age, which led to the creation of the Amber Purifying Pot.
Ino examined the spirit water within. After a thousand years, the water still carried a refreshing fragrance. Just a whiff of it would make one feel more invigorated.
With the treasure in hand, she naturally had to make the most of it.
Ashura had said Ino couldn't use it, but that was because he was unaware of many of her plans.
For her, time was everything.
It had been two years since Ino had transmigrated, and the entire ninja world had been turned upside down. But there was no telling when the one who delivered rice would come for a stroll through Konoha.
The Six Paths of Pain were undoubtedly at the pinnacle of the Kage level. Ino had the Wood Golem Jutsu and the Flying Thunder God Technique; she didn't think she would lose, but she wasn't very confident of winning either.
