Elisa lay curled up in bed, eyes open, unblinking, staring at the same ceiling she had been staring at for the past six days. The silence of her apartment used to be a comfort...a little piece of sanctuary she'd carved out for herself, but now it was just...hollow. Like a tomb made of muted walls and quiet regrets.
The last time she had ventured out of her room was when Tilly had begged her to come and see her participate in a spelling bee in school. As soon as she had reached a place, silence would fall. And as soon as they felt she was out of range, mutters would start up. That day during the spelling bee had been very awkward. She could feel their eyes on her... people were nicer to her, and she felt only a few judgmental and malicious looks... most of them were pitying, and that made it worse.
Since then, she had stayed in her room; if she wanted anything, she would just text Raven, and she would help her get it.
