Chapter 503
Isaac Goodman
The dropship descends through the atmosphere, heat shields glowing orange against the dark sky. Through the reinforced windows, I watch Nea Gaia grow larger beneath us. The planet is beautiful. Blue oceans. Green continents. White clouds. It looks like Earth. It looks like home... well like how Earth used to look like from the pictures, now it's a dusty gray with barely any greenery.
The dropship lands with a hydraulic hiss, settling onto the landing pad at New Arcadia ISA Headquarters. The ramp lowers. I step out.
I take a deep breath in, something about natural oxygen in the air, is something the artificially produced oxygen on the bastion can never replicate.
The moment my boots hit the tarmac, a soldier snaps to attention.
"Commander Goodman! Welcome to New Arcadia, sir!"
I nod once. A curt acknowledgment. I do not slow my pace.
