In terms of level, Groudon and Kyogre were exactly the same. However, because Kyogre had been buffed by Julian, its actual strength should now be higher than Groudon's.

With Julian's power boost, Kyogre felt that this time, it might really be able to pin Groudon to the ground and beat it up.

Before that giant green caterpie arrived, it had to finish the battle quickly.

Sensing Kyogre's surging fighting spirit, Julian swung his arm and shouted, "Kyogre, Water Spout!"

At this moment, Julian's heart was pounding with excitement—after all, he was commanding a First-class Legendary. Throughout history, only a handful of trainers had ever been able to command a being of such might.

After realizing that Julian could actually buff it, Kyogre no longer looked down on this human.

Opening its mouth, Kyogre shot out a torrent of water, surrounding the area with intense Water-type energy. If any Water-type Pokémon were nearby, they would surely level up by more than ten levels under this energy.

In response to Kyogre's Water Spout, Groudon used Eruption.

Both Water Spout and Eruption had power tied to the user's HP—the higher the HP, the stronger the move. So these kinds of attacks worked best when the user was in perfect condition, to unleash their maximum might.

Water and fire collided head-on, and the impact created a vast surge of steam that spread across the area.

Throughout their long history, Groudon and Kyogre had fought many times, and whenever their Eruption and Water Spout collided, the result was always a draw.

Groudon expected the same outcome this time—

—but then, something unexpected happened.

Its Eruption was actually being overpowered by Kyogre's Water Spout, forced into a steady retreat—a fact Groudon found hard to believe.

Even when it increased the intensity of its fire, the flames still couldn't withstand the pressure from that torrent of water.

BOOM!!

As the Eruption was completely overwhelmed by Water Spout, the impact struck Groudon with immense force, sending its body stumbling backward. The landmass it had created began to crack under its feet, fissures spreading like a spiderweb.

It wasn't until it had been pushed back nearly a kilometer that Groudon finally came to a stop.

The people of Drakoria, seeing Kyogre force Groudon back in a single move, erupted in excited cheers.

---

> Damn! Kyogre went full power!

> Didn't some experts say these two Legendaries were evenly matched?

> Anyone here still believe those "experts"?

> Is it just me, or does Groudon look totally confused right now?

---

At this moment, Groudon was indeed confused. It couldn't understand why its Eruption had been overpowered by Kyogre's Water Spout.

It stared at the "big-headed fish," but Kyogre hadn't broken through any limits—so how had it grown stronger?

Kyogre, on the other hand, was really delighted. The buff Julian had given it was truly effective—it had shattered Groudon's Eruption with a single move.

The "Unown's Protection" buff increased its overall strength by 20%—meaning Kyogre was now enhanced in every aspect: speed, power, defense, HP, and stamina.

Normally, they would be evenly matched. But now, with Julian's support, Kyogre was practically bullying Groudon.

Of course, Groudon had no idea that Kyogre's power had been boosted. It just thought it had simply underperformed and, refusing to accept the outcome, used Eruption once again.

Under normal circumstances, Kyogre would've countered with another Water Spout—and it was about to do just that—

—but just then, Julian's voice rang out in its ears:

"Use Surf!"

'Fine, your call.'

With a powerful slap of its tail against the water, Kyogre summoned a colossal wave behind it, which surged toward the landmass Groudon had created.

Under the pressure of the towering wave, the fissures in the landmass multiplied. The foaming water swept across the land, reaching Groudon in the blink of an eye.

Swept up in the massive wave, Groudon couldn't maintain its balance, and its Eruption shot wildly into the sky.

"Hahaha! Two-legs, what's wrong? Think the sky isn't hot enough? Keep adding fire!" Kyogre's mocking voice rang out.

Furious, Groudon roared, releasing a surge of intense Ground-type energy, causing stone walls to rise from the earth, diverting the raging currents away.

"Kyogre, Hydro Pump!"

Julian now seemed to understand why these two could fight for so long without ever deciding a winner. Besides their similar strength, the main reason was that both of them fought in the most straightforward way possible—no strategy, no tactics, just pure brute force.

But then again, First-class Legendaries were the embodiment of raw power. When they fought, they didn't need tactics—they simply crushed whatever was in front of them.

Just like now—Groudon was already struggling to stay steady after being hit by Surf, yet Kyogre didn't press the advantage. Instead, it started taunting it.

If not for the fact that Unown's Protection lasted only twenty minutes, Julian honestly would've joined in on the mockery himself.

A Hydro Pump, barely four meters in diameter was launched—but its destructive power was enough to obliterate an entire city. Its immense piercing force instantly punched through the stone walls Groudon had raised to divert the water.

Still, those walls had bought Groudon a fraction of a second.

Hammer Arm!

Its arm, glowing crimson, swung down at the incoming Hydro Pump. As it moved, the air itself seemed to tremble and roar.

BOOM!!!

Hammer Arm collided with Hydro Pump, and a massive wave of energy erupted, spreading outward at lightning speed.

Metagross instantly moved to shield Julian, enduring the impact of the blast.

Three seconds later—

—the shockwave reached Victoria, a thousand miles away. Buildings began to crumble in massive sections, and it wasn't until the wave had swept over more than half of the city that it finally dissipated.

The broadcast switched to show Victoria.

Everyone watched in stunned silence as skyscrapers over a hundred meters high were sheared clean off. Their faces turned pale at the sight.

This was just the residual energy from a battle a thousand miles away. If it had been five hundred miles closer… could the aftershock have wiped out all of Victoria?

This was the power of a First-class Legendary—a force capable of sinking entire nations.

Their true opponents were never humans, but others of their own kind.

Fortunately, most of Victoria's residents had already been evacuated to safe zones, so the number of casualties were very low.
