Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Night of the Mask II

Faith's POV

The maids dressed me like I was headed to some royal ball, not a night crawling with masked devils and hidden agendas. I didn't even get why the mask was important.

The dress was long, purple, and sparkled like it had something to prove. It clung in all the right places, which would've been great if I cared. I didn't.

The mask was a matching purple, covered in tiny gems. My hair was yanked into a tight bun, twisted with shiny little pins that felt like they belonged on a wedding cake, not my head.

I looked at myself in the mirror and sighed. This wasn't me. Not even close.

"Is this really necessary?" I asked, barely holding in my irritation.

"Yes, your highness," one of the maids chirped.

I stared at her for a second. Highness? Yeah, no. I didn't correct her though. Let them think what they want. I had bigger things to worry about. I nodded stiffly, mostly to end the conversation.
