Mingmei arrived at her office and went straight to meet Zhang Wei.
DOOR KNOCKS!
"Come in" Zhang Wei.
"I need to talk to you, boss!" she rushed the talk.
"Just calm down and have a seat first, is everything alright?" he was tensed.
"I'm not sure if it's the right thing to ask, but there is something I might need your advice on" she said.
"You can always speak to me, what's the matter?" he asked.
Mingmei explained the entire thing to him.
"Hmm, if that's the case, then you can probably do the way you like. My concern won't be a matter, but you need to ask mother. Afterall she is the one to decide" he said.
"Will she be ok with all this stuff?" she asked.
"Well, to be honest, I'm not sure either. But at least you need to talk to her, that's the only way you would get the answer" he said.
"I think you are right, so, thank you and bye!" she left.
"Meimei...!" he called out loud.
"Haan…?" she said.
"Choose whatever you like, I'm happy for you!" he said.
"Thank you!" she said.
She eventually convinced Mrs. He for her situation and now she was finally going to see her book come to life. She was equally happy and stressed, as she knew, her schedule was going to be even more tiring.
Soon the shoot for the series began. It was Mingmei's first time to visit a shooting set. She was nervous, but having Wang Lie by her side there, she felt relieved.
It was the first day of shoot and they were about to shoot the red-carpet scene. Wang Lie was ready, and everyone was waiting for Feng Tao to come. After she came, everyone was ready to start, but seeing Mingmei there, she had her complete focus on Mingmei and Lie, which is why she couldn't give a proper shot even after trying many times.
Seeing that Tao cannot capture the characters emotions, Mingmei interrupted the shoot to explain her the character. Tao, furious over this, started to insult Mingmei.
"So, now you are going to teach me how to act! I'm an actress, not an ordinary one, but the top tier one! And you are nothing more than an ordinary author, who is just seeking Lie's attention for fame and money!" Tao said furiously.
Lie interrupted the conversation and took Mingmei with him. Now Tao was even more furious.
"The director wants you to shoot the scene, just in case to show the emotional side of the characters, you are the writer, and know it better than anyone else" he said.
"But I'm not a professional person in acting!" she said.
"Don't worry, I'll be there with you, you just have to close your eyes and feel the words you have written" he said.
"Ok… I'll try" she said.
Everyone was quite, and the shot began, Mingmei was standing nervously in the middle of the scene, but seeing Lie walking towards her, she forgot everyone else and stood confidently. The shot was perfectly done, and everyone was praising her for her acting. Tao couldn't take it and left the set immediately.
Seeing Mingmei close to Lie every day, Tao's hatred grew up to the level, where she began to find chances to humiliate and insult Mingmei.
Sometimes by spilling the drinks on her dress, or by tripping her legs while walking, or by pushing her away from Lie. It went on next level when she tore Mingmei's dress during the sudden power cut.
But every time, to her luck, Lie would show up and save her.
One day, when everyone left, she desperately tried to lock Mingmei in the room, but Lie, being suspicious over her behavior, caught it and saved Mingmei in time. Tao was no longer part of the project now.
"You are the reason why this everything happened! "I won't let you go with this easily" saying so she angrily rushed towards Mingmei with a camera stand but Lie came saved Mingmei by coming in the middle.
Due to this, Tao's agency disowned her, and she was now banned from the entertainment industry permanently. But then, she also decided to take revenge from Mingmei by holding her responsible for all the situations.
Since Tao was out of the project now, there was a need of new female lead to continue the project. The producers approached Chen Zixin for the role, but as she was busy shooting for another few projects, they couldn't make it to her. In the middle of all this, they decided on asking Mingmei to take the role, as she could understand and connect with the characters emotions more properly. Initially she denied the offer out of nervousness, but soon on everyone's request, she agreed at the end.
The shooting began from the beginning, now Mingmei had to get dressed up for the shot, so everyone was waiting for her. Everyone was awestruck to see her graceful and beautiful look. She stood in a cherry red colored outfit with her wavy hair tucked with a broch.
This was the actual thing she imagined when she wrote her book. Standing in the arms of her idol, holding a rose flower in her hand.
"Well, you seem like you have completely taken Jack's character into you!" she said.
"What makes you think that?" he asked.
"Cause, this is exactly how I thought the scene should have been" she said.
"Well, let me tell you this one secret, I'm not actually acting. I just can't move my eyes past you" he said.
She smiled and looked down.
"You look even prettier when you blush. Your cheeks become tomato red instantly!" he started flirting.
"Better concentrate on the scene…" she said in a low voice, avoiding eye contact with him.
"For that, you need to look in my eyes... that's the scene actually…" he said.
He was completely smitten by her, and she couldn't stop blushing.
"I think the scene is over, and its done perfectly! You can now stand normally!" the director interrupted.
Days passed, and everything was going pretty well. One day during a shot by the lake, Mingmei was standing, and Feng Tao suddenly broke in and pushed her in the water. Lie immediately rushed over and jumped in water to save her. Guards came and caught Tao tightly. Lie took a cloth to cover Mingmei.
"Are you alright?" Lie asked.
"I'm fine, don't worry… are you alright?" Mingmei asked.
"Just sit here and relax... don't worry… I…" before he could say anything, Tao rushed towards him.
"Lie, I really like you, please come to me Lie… Lei…" Tao started yelling.
"Keep your hands off me, and you'll pay for this. How dare you hurt Meimei!" Lie was furious.
Mingmei held his hands tightly, to stop him from venting his anger on Tao. Seeing them holding hands, Tao again ferociously rushed towards Mingmei.
"You are the one responsible for this! If not for you, I might have been with Lie! You ordinary girl, you don't belong with Lie. I'll not leave you! I'll kill you!" said Tao.
"Keep away from her!" Lie came in between and pushed Tao away.
Immediately the guards came and pulled her away from Lie.
"Lie, Lie, Lie, please look at me Lie… She is not the right one for you! We are a perfect match. Lie… Lie…" Tao was screaming when guards took her with them.
Lie hugged Mingmei.
"Don't worry, I promise she won't get away with this" he said.
"It's ok… we'll see that later" she said.
The shoot was cancelled for next 2 3 days, in order to take care of the incident. Soon everything was back to normal and finally the shooting was also wrapped up. The team planned for a premiere party to introduce everyone to the drama series as well as the female and male leads. Mingmei was now back in the office.
"Meimei! My dear friend, welcome back to the office! Oh, I missed you so much…," said Yaya.
"Thank you so much, I missed you too…," said Mingmei.
"Well, well, my colleague cum friend is officially gonna be a celebrity now, I'm so happy for you!" said Yaya.
"Really... thanks a lot... if it might have not been you, I might have not been so relax with the work there," said Mingmei.
"So, how about a little celebration, just the two of us!" said Yaya.
"Tonight, maybe not, I have to catch up with Yifeng later," said Mingmei.
"No problem, if it's not anything important, we can hang out together!" said Yaya.
"Ok, let's do this then! I'll inform him," said Mingmei.
I'll go and meet boss then," said Mingmei.
"Ok!" said Yaya.
