CHAPTER 66

Parkston left the hall feeling lighter, smiling sheepishly. He didn't share Grace's awkwardness about the moment, they had kissed, and to him, it was enough. He walked swiftly, holding his half arm, giving small jumps like a gleeful child.

"What makes a man with one arm jump like he's just won a lottery?" Queen Jonah asked as they crossed paths.

Parkston's smile slowly faded, replaced with a flat stare.

Queen Jonah chuckled softly, mocking. "Did I bring you back to reality? You almost forgot you're not whole, silly man."

"A dumb and silly woman calling someone else silly," Parkston muttered.

"Excuse me?" Jonah tilted her head, disgusted.

"The day's too early for your shenanigans, Jonah, go find something useful to do," he said.

Jonah glanced around and picked up a lantern, lifting it with both hands. "Here, I've done something with both hands. Something you clearly can't do." She laughed loudly, loud enough for the hallway guards to glance at her.
