CHAPTER 71
Grace was found pacing around the courtyard, her mind raging with fury. She hadn't hated someone this much except Queen Jonah and now, there was Robert. The very thought of him set her nerves on edge. She clenched her fist, trying to temper the unrest boiling within her, but each time she managed to draw in a breath, the image of Robert, his smug knowing look crept in again. He knew too much. Worse, he might speak before she was ready.
Mathew Sterrn was leaping gently around the courtyard, trying to regain strength in his legs. Each step was careful, but his posture had improved from the last time she'd seen him. As he moved upright, practicing balance and restraint, Grace approached.
"How are you catching up with your feet?" she asked with a forced lightness.
Sterrn barely glanced her way. He didn't stop moving.
Grace let out a soft cough. "About the other day…"
"I do not want to hear it," Sterrn interrupted quickly.
